Hi,

I'm a green card holder and I have a Reentry Permit. I might need to go back to my country soon, to stay there 1 year or more. However, the reentry permit will expire while I'm outside. Can I renew it before it expires? The instruction for for I-131 hints that you can ask a new Reentry Permit if you lost it, damaged it or you returned it to USCIS (see top of page 3 of I-131 instructions).

1) What's the procedure to return a document?

2) Is there any chances that they will deny my petition since I already had one reentry permit?

Renew it now seems the obvious route.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You seem to be conflating 2 separate issues.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The instructions clearly says that a Reentry Permit cannot be requested if you alread have one which is still valid. But they seem to imply you can return a valid Reentry Permit. How can I do that?
