I-130 sent to NVC, no word from NVC

Do you know the difference between business days and calendar days? Business days do not include weekends or holidays. So if the NVC phone rep says "this will take 20 business days" do not count the weekend when you see how long it will take on the calendar. Many people find the terminology confusing so the NVC has changed how they relate to the average person.

Yes I certainly know the difference between business days and calendar days, thank you. I feel I am relatable, if not even above average. I simply didn't understand the simultaneous review comment since I hadn't yet read that far on Wiki and am trying to slog through this all by myself (first-timer here). Thank you for the invaluable information.

Oh okay, I wasn't being condescending btw, just covering all the bases. Your question was a tad confusing for me so I tried to explain everything that you quoted.

The wiki really explains everything well. Saylin is pretty awesome at guides. She's our resident saint. ;)

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I guess I am a bit touchy these days, being without my husband and three-year-old daughter for the past five weeks and all.

That Wiki page really is something - I will keep studying it as you and another poster suggested. It seems to make sense only little by little, as I learn more from the NVC.

When I spoke to them last week they said you can send a canned copy of the I-797 form to NVCRESEARCH@State.gov with all the information on your case. The subject should say the USCIS Case number, I-130 date, and query for information. The main body should include the applicant's full name, email address, and date of birth; the petitioner's full name, email address, and date of birth; and the name, email address, and postal address of the attorney of record, if applicable, and specify that you have not received an update from NVC.

Please note: Depending on the Tier 2 person answering the phone; some say 4 weeks is enough to wait. Others say 8 weeks is what you need to wait. I don't know since mine was timely.

Good luck with your journey and God bless.

It might take from 2weeks to 4weeks for NVC to receive your case file from USCIS, mine took 12days. Just like others have suggested, call NVC to inquire if they have your case file. Ask if you have a case number yet.

Its time for you to read Saylin's wiki here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

This wiki will be of great help to you during your time with NVC.{You can also print it out for easy access}

There's also a monthly thread for those at NVC stage, we move from month to month. Here's a link for August NVC filer 2014: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/508139-nvc-filers-august-2014/

You will get to meet with people that can assist and help you thru the NVC process.

Do you know if there is a step-by-step somewhere for the DS-261. For some reason I am panicking looking at it -- I don't want to make a single mistake!
