Interview arrival time?

Does anyone have any advice for the best time to arrive at the embassy? My interview is at 9:30am and I'm trying to figure out the logistics of getting there. The guide says you're advised to arrive no earlier than 30 before but that it's also first-come, first-served.

I am assuming this is for the London embassy. Our appointment was at 8 AM and at 7:45 they had a separate queue for those with appointments at 9 and after. So, if you arrive earlier, you will queue but will also ensure a spot in the front of the line at your appointment time. We were there a total of 90 minutes (arrived 7:45 AM, left embassy at 9:15) for a CR1 visa interview (which was approved!).

One caution: We indicated that I would accompany my spouse on the readiness form but I was not on the list so I ended up having to wait at Starbuck's nearby. My husband was well prepared so I would have been there more for moral support but if you want your partner with you make sure to remind them via a follow up email after you send your readiness form.

Okay, thanks. I was looking to be there at about 7:30 anyway until I saw the 30 minute bit in the catch-all thread.

I've been debating whether to get a hotel the night before or catch a coach that will get me to London by 6am.

You can read my review of my recent london interview, I give a detailed example.

I advise going a bit earlier than 30 mins as there are two lines you have to wait in and they can be very long!

I arrived at just after 7am for my 9am interview. They called the 8am people to the front, but getting there early meant I was very near at the front of the not 8am queue and I got into the building at just after 8 with many people after me making the getting there early worthwhile!

I arrived somewhere around 8:05-8:15 today for my 9:30 interview.

Didn't have to wait that long in the two queues outside, or for the whole interview process really, but if you can get there a little earlier I certainly don't think it would do you any harm.

I tried to get there as early as possible back in the day, so I wasn't waiting too long (especially as it was during the Summer season and thus hotter). There was still a queue of people when I arrived. Go figure.

There's that smell again...
