Hi all,

Putting our packet 3 together and came across a confusing requirement. The packet 3 instructions (Rev. Jul-14) says a Single Status certificate maybe needed and then near the end it states that if a child was born out of wedlock then a Marital Status certificate is needed. We have a Single Status certificate but we don't know what this other one is. What is the differences in the certificates? Has anyone dealt with this?

Thanks Glenn

Hi, and welcome, I just read through the supplied embassy document. The certificate of marriage is needed only if a child was born out of wedlock. I would assume that there is no marriage document to supply to the embassy. Go to the Thai portal and relist your question. I think that a lot of people only read the first 5 topics and not some of the later entries. Good luck.

Not sure on this question but I can tell you, my (now) wife got put on AP from the interview because she did not have her 20 year old daughter's birth certificate. Cost us about 3 months even though we mailed to the Embassy the day after the interview. The daughter was never planned to come over but they had put her on one of the docs anyway and we did not pay attention to it. I called the 800 and they said don't worry... So be prepared with everything you can get for them. Best of luck.

Ya'll are fine. My wife was the same with our son. As long as you have Single Status certificate you good. Since she does have a child you will need a statement from the father whether he comes to the embassy or go to the local Amphur giving you consent for the child to come to the US. This is a most. Thanks Long, that is what I hoped. We have both those documents in hand.

My wife has no children and she still went and got the cert form the police station. The few Bhat it costs to get it is better then going to the interview and having someone put you in AP because you didn't have it.
