I have my 3 year Green Card and gave birth to my baby in June 2014 (American Dad & UK Mom) we plan to visit my family in the UK for Christmas and the baby will have an American passport.

Do we need any kind of visa for my husband & daughter to visit the UK?

Do I need to take her birth certificate with me when we travel?

You will definitely need a passport for your baby. Neither you, your husband or your baby need visas. Americans are not required to obtain tourist visas to enter UK or many other countries in the EU. You will travel on your British passport and come back to the U.S. on it as well - you will just need to produce your LPR card at your POE.

You should apply for your baby's passport in the coming weeks, to ensure that the passport will be processed before December without having to pay extra fees.

Also, I believe the baby has to have an SSN in order to apply for the passport, so you should apply for that as well if it wasn't done at the hospital.

Fortunately, as stated above USC's don't need visas to enter the UK for tourist purposes, I think the stay is either 90 days or 6 months.

Here is a link with the passport requirements for the baby and the visit of USC's to the UK:

This does not constitute legal advice.

You should, assuming the child is eligible, obtain a UK Passport. Avoids the issues.

UK going to UK

US going to US.

US citizens do not require a social security number to be able to apply for a US passport, but if they have one it must be declared.

You enter their social security number as all zeros on the passport application if they don't have one.
