Before my husband got to the us, i had health insurance through the marketplace. Once we married, i had a qualifying life change and had to reapply to add him. Now its saying because of my income and household size that we qualify for medicaid. Wont that be bad in immigrations eyes? Don't uscis consider medicaid assistance?

I would rather pay for health insurance and not get medicaid.

No, I don't think so. As long as you are above poverty guidelines, being qualify for Medicaid is not a bad thing.

Medicaid is not a means tested benefit, so there shouldn't be a problem. You probably qualify since your income remained the same but your household grew.

When Obamacare came in some States expended Medicaid, some did not. I thought Texas did not.

I read this, but im not sure if my husband is an immigrant or an lpr. I think they become lpr after he gets 2 yr greencard. Also im not sure what the 5 yr ban means.

An immigrant is an LPR. Legal permanent resident. Your husband cannot use medicaid except in an emergency or else you will be paying the government back. That is the agreement of the I-864.

YOU can use medicaid, HE cannot for 5 years at the very least because in 5 years he qualifies to become a US citizen as long as he has enough physical presence. (Aka doesn't spend a significant amount of time outside the USA)

My apologies, NLR is correct. Emergency medicaid is not mean tested, regular medicaid is.

We declined medicaid and got him added to the same plan with the marketplace.
