He fits the bill of he-who-wants-the-world-to-see-his-derrierre, if he dresses like that. And he is contributing to the impression that most people seem to have of people who can't wear their pants the way they were made to be worn. I don't get the attraction of guys doing that...

Neither do I, but it's his choice. If a white guy did the same thing, he wouldn't be judged in the same fashion. That's the bytch of the bunch.

I cannot say for sure that they were on the "edge of their seats", but apparently they thought they had the right to do the crime.

Nope, it's the frustration of living in a world where not only do you have to be worried about your own people, but the cops can be just as trigger happy. The difference is, if you're killed by another black person, they'll get jail time. A cop? Not so much. Or maybe not at all.

And as LZ Granderson said, I hate black looters as much as I hate the KKK. Their actions justify why this young man was killed.

What is that? Someone who used to serve in the military?

The equipment they use is hand me downs.

The he11 he wouldn't. I judge all people who "sag" the same way, and if I come across them in person, I tell them to show the rest of us some respect and pull their pants up. Regardless of color.

Part of your problem is that YOU paint all whites with as broad a brush as you complain about blacks being painted. That sort of attitude is part of the problem, not the solution. I understand you don't see it, but I do, and as a internet friend, I am letting you know how it appears to others (often we don't see our flaws as readily as others). Racism will not die in our time because there are people on both sides of the "color line" who won't let it.

yes marvin, listen carefully to what the good man is trying to say. he's trying to help you. black people seem to be unaware that they should pull their pants up and he's made it his life calling to let them know that their baggy pants are disrepectful to the rest of us.

i personally am more offended by camel toe and wedgies that don't quit but i've been corrupted by a youth filled with clothing worn backwards and hammer pants.

For some reason this got me thinking about that thread you started which got deleted by the mods because it consisted of a bigoted rant about black people being lazy and incompetent.

Agreed. At the end of the day bigoted is bigoted, and it's very telling when a person's intolerance of it only goes in one direction.

So, you're telling me that you see Justin Beiber as a thug? Do you think he has the same problems as a black teen who dresses in the exact same manner?

I don't paint all white people as the same brush. I point out the stark differences in how situations are handled when it comes to race. Same as Janelle. When others here make racial comments and broad generalizations they're rarely called out. When myself and Janelle call it out, we're told that we race bait.

Reminds me of someone else who does the same thing with race...

If you do a thread count between me and lib on race, you'd be surprised.

There is actually research that proves what you're saying. For example, that black men tend to get longer jail sentences than whites for equivalent crimes.

Oh, I know this too well, and have posted links with evidence just like val eri, but anything that shows without a doubt the institutionalized racism that runs so deep within our country, is either ignored or told to just find a way around it. The problem is, since it's not all of us and people do actually make it over the obstacles, it can't be racist since it's not stopping all of us at once.

and that's the beauty of america, huh. your personal fashion choices are yours alone to make.

There's truth to that, I admit.

But what if I just left my pants at home, and wore brightly colored boxer shorts around town? Would you still think it was my personal fashion choice? What about if I went to the swimming pool, shucked my clothes, and swam nekkid? (Germans are fond of this) Don't see many mechanics working on cars in suits here in America, do ya? (They do in Korea!) Sure, there are regional quirks that will not fit in America, but where do you draw the line? Not sure where/when you grew up, but in my time and area, it was taboo to go around showing your underwear, be it boxers or skivvies, after you were much older than 5.

But that's a topic for another thread, I reckon. On the OT, it is a sad day when someone dies for no reason, especially a kid who had his life ahead of him.

Reminds me of one of the saddest flights I ever made... local EMS would not fly due to bad weather, so my crew and I got up, strapped in, and went and picked up a young girl from a party in middle GA. Her class had just graduated, she at the top. Some dingbat who was supposed to have graduated 2 or 3 years prior, and who had just gotten out of prison (and had no business being at the post-graduation bonfire), pulled a gun on someone during an argument, and it "went off"... bullet hit her in the lower spine. We got her to the hospital in Savannah in time, but the prognosis I got from the doc (I went back a couple of days later to see how she was doing) was a lifetime of lower extremity paralysis. Beautiful young lady, her whole life ahead of her, and while she did not die, her life was changed forever by an imbecile who shouldn't have even been there.

And just for you, Marvin, the shooter was white, she was black. But as her momma hugged my neck and thanked me for being willing to fly her daughter to the hospital in weather no one else would fly in, with tears streaming down both our faces, no one mentioned anything about race. It was just the tragedy that mattered...

They should. Because if white teens are killed, you never see them at parties drinking beers in wife beaters.

White kids and wife beaters... Classic... Good one Marvin

But that is usually older hairy backed white dudes with gold chains ..
