Because ignorance and anger go hand in hand.

folks will now think this kid did something to deserve his death.

True.

No. What happened to that young teen had/has NOTHING to do with the looting. That was just ignorant people acting the fool because they thought it gave them some "right" to do so. I seem to recall that most of the looters that were caught were not even from Ferguson, and many already had criminal records.

No need to commmend me, I was just doing my job, but thanks. I wasn't trying to toot my own horn, just portraying a similar (if not as lethal) tragedy.

No, you don't have to defend them. Why would you even waste your time? Do you think ANYTHING you would ever say to idiots who post some of those trashy comments would make a difference? No. Never. Why? Because they are bigoted and hate. Don't ask me why, cuz I don't get it. There are places where people still THINK they hate blacks because their ancestors hated blacks. Or owned them, whatever. I realize I can never change those people, so I just ignore them. They will die one day, and their insignificance with them.

I did not read the comments on the original post, cuz I saw what you and Janelle said they were saying. Not worth my time. I'd rather palaver with you and her and maybe even val (though she is trying real hard to hurt my feelings today). When you see ####### like that, you should just close the tab. You got the story line, disregard the uneducated stupidity.

We have to defend them because if we don't no one else will. I'll give you the perfect example of this.

Look at TM. In the past year, no teen has been more polarizing than him. He divided this nation more than it already was. This dude has become the poster boy for gun carrying men and women. Even though he never killed anyone. Talk about a case of blinders. GZ's action here and IRL have been either ignored completely or been justified as acceptable by the very people who would blow someone away for looking at them wrong. TM has had his reputation completely destroyed, had targets made out in his image, high visible LEO and conservatives took shots at him, and there was a video game out there portraying him as some vicious killer on the prowl. But those white teens that have taken guns and actually killed people? No attacks on them. At all. They're left alone and respected.

We have to fight for our young black me, there's no choice in the matter.

Can you please point me to where I said blacks "should pull their pants up"? I believe I said ANYONE sagging, regardless of color. Please don't attempt to out me as a racist or someone who is against any particular culture/color in general, you will fail miserably.

you didn't say that, you said you tell people who wear their clothes in a certain manner that they should be wearing their clothes the way you prefer. i didn't say otherwise. anyone would include black people, would it not?

of course, this was a trend that is primarily popular in the hip hop community and that is certainly no longer made up of black people alone, lots of little 'wannabe' beibers running around and i tell you, that seems to scare elder generations a heck of a lot more than when the hip hop community was more of a segregated population.

where do i draw the line? when someone tells me how to dress.

and why does this shooting remind you of that flight, if race means nothing?

Fair enough. But if you sag your britches around me, I WILL say something about it. so perhaps you better stay outta the south, if'n you decide to sag. Just sayin'. :)

Because both were tragedies that involved young teens with bright futures who were hurt for mostly no reason at all. The facts in the OT may still be coming in, but I know for sure in the one I mentioned, the girl was totally innocent. She was just trying to stop the argument and got shot. And it's not just the OT that makes me think about it... I think about it often over the years, prolly always will. It's the only time I actually went and visited a patient I carried, and it impacted me pretty hard.

it shouldn't? people smashing & stealing others property...do you have video I haven't seen?

Unless you have a video of the entire community of Ferguson doing this, it's not the black community. I was just there yesterday. It is some people, not all of them.

Yes. Why? That's even worse than saggers. uggghhhh

The worst are the ones you encounter in Hotel breakfast bars along I-75. You know the ones that the people from certain areas up north stop at. I don't know why, but you can spot them. Wife Beaters, warm up pants, gold chains, and rude as hades

You can see that. Tell that to others. People think it.

note marvin. I didn't say black community. I said community.

You're seeing a few bad apples. That's all. Not the entire community.

Why do you think I carry myself in the manner I do? I can't use slang, even when I'm off work because all it takes is one instance, next thing you know I'm Marvin the thug. I can't dress too casually or folks will think I'm lazy.

I can't get too ignorant on this site, lest I be labeled an angry black man.

Black people? The cops get called at the slightest raise in voice.

And it's hard to move forward when being black can still get you killed by the police, another black person, or some guy who felt threatened, but confronted you first with a gun when you're unarmed.

Good on you. THAT'S helping your cause.

Too late. You should petition Ewok to allow you another account, and delete this one.

Not true, at least not always. I think the environment has a lot to do with that. There have been some black parties near to my house, quite loud and rowdy even at midnight, and no cops were called. (Next time it happens, I plan to go help them get rid of the liquid evidence, just in case)

Being white can get you killed by the police, other whites, blacks, latinos, etc. Armed or unarmed. There you go again, making it seem like black life is more fragile than any other color. Untrue. Or perhaps... untrue in all locales. Where you live, I can see why your vision is "colored" (pun intended).

awesome. i hope that verbally pointing out your dislike of other people's fashion choices creates a small ripple of change in the industry. i've my fingers crossed.

i've some stories myself. the most memorable ones involve crooked cops and how easily their lies are accepted by the communites that pay their salaries. i've known too many people who got yoked into the judicial system as teens and they never escape..personally, i don't want to tell my son to be weary of law enforcement but i do. and my son's white.

So then it's safe to say that whites that practice job discrimination and cheer when this kid got shot, are just a few bad apples ?

It shouldn't. That's not the black community. That's a few ignorant people.

dude. He said community. YOU said black. See the difference? Community refers to the locals, black community refers to a particular portion of the locals.

And for the record, the report I read alluded that most of the looters were not local. So they made ANOTHER community look bad. Mostly criminals anyway, I'd wager.
