I find a gun show is a very nice family event. I see you are afraid about a youngster taking an interest in firearms?

I agree. Whenever we can, my family and I drive our home to gun shows. The only thing preventing us from having a perfect blessed christian family time was the booze. Now that is possible, in Texas. Praise the Lord! Hee haw!

But, [seriously], why was there a low prohibiting alcohol in these shows? What was the Texas legislative trying to accomplish when the law was passed?

So, what does allowing alcohol change?

Nothing.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. Show me one instance where a gun, properly handled, kills the person handling it (excepting suicides, where the intent of the proper handling is the death of the handler).

I bet you can't. The reason being that it is always the mishandling of the weapon, either by an idiot, in the case of the linked thread, or a careless owner. The human element is the lethal part of the equation, not the firearm.

Alcohol, on the other hand, kills a lot of people, even when properly handled.

The problem is there is a significant number of idiots out there, thus a significant number of "careless owners", thus a lot of mishandled weapons. There is no chance of alcohol improving any of that. The best one could hope for is not to make it worse. Hope that nothing happens.

Maybe you should go back and read the article. There will be no weapons, no live ammo, and no alcohol in the same place at the same time. So how do you imagine all this 'mayhem' will occur?

Yes I read the article. Did you read the one a couple of weeks ago about the person who got shot at a gun show. Apparently there was a strict policy of no loaded weapons.

So, how does a person get shot with an unloaded weapon? Somewhere, someone excercised seriously poor judgement and lack of responsibility.

Alcohol is not going to help with that.
