Hey everyone, first time poster with a question - sorry don't have any info in my signature for timeline purposes. K-1 fiance visa, home country is France.

We filed the NOA1 back in April (April 11 I believe) and were transferred to CSC back in August. Coming up on 5 months now and hadn't heard anything despite many other transfers getting the NOA2 relatively quickly. I called the USCIS number today and eventually spoke to a 2nd tier rep. He wasn't very helpful.

First, as to why I got the text message alert when filing the NOA1 but did not get an alert for the transfer, he could not provide any information on e-notifications.

Second, he casually mentioned that the CSC had made a request for more information in August, but that it was never "ordered"... so possibly they want more information but never actually hit the "send" button so to speak. Or, potentially they don't need more info and that order was an error. I should find out "in a few weeks."

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I would hate to have this delayed for another month or two, we tried to be very careful in the application to include everything that could be needed and tried to be over-inclusive when possible. He also said that there was no way to contact the CSC directly to find out what they might have requested. Is this true? I thought I've read of people being able to contact the service centers directly once 5 months has passed.

Just an update. The website today changed to the dreaded RFE. By my estimates, this is at a minimum a month delay, correct?

Makes me pretty irritated because yesterday the Tier 2 service rep said that the RFE was made in August (about two weeks ago) but it was never ''ordered'' and today, they finally ordered it. So it sounds like they forgot to hit send. 5 months of waiting, and FINALLY they do something, which is just to delay it further.

I don't believe it will be a month delay. I think it depends on how quickly you send back the requested information after receiving the RFE. I was reading a very old post several weeks ago from a former USCIS employee and they stated that if an RFE is sent out on the case the adjudicator puts the file to the side and continues to work on other cases. Then once the information is received they return to the case to continue processing. It's a good sign because it means someone is actively assigned to work on it as opposed to it sitting in a pile. And I have seen several timelines where an RFE was sent out and 2-3 weeks later the case was approved. So I don't think it will be a very long delay, just depends on how quickly you send the information to them. If anyone else has any input or is familiar with the RFE please feel free to correct me :) .

Even though that sounds bad getting a RFE, at least you are aware that someone is actually looking over your application. So that is a positive thing. Once you give them the info they are looking for, once they receive it, at that point, they will continue processing your case. You are not pushed to the back of the line. I filed a petition many years ago and they sent a RFE, didn't take no time at all. Once I sent what they was looking for, they got right on it. So, that being said, once you send back what they want, you are back in business. Good luck!!

I just received a Case Status Information email and my heart started beating fast. I thought, "Approval or RFE?? Please be approval!!" Alas, it was yet another e-mail telling me my case was transferred on August 11th. Third notification about the transfer I've received. Thanks USCIS! /sarcasm

Just got the exact same notification! #######!

I'm trying to be positive. We got an RFE and returned it last week by overnight mail. They changed the status last week on Thursday to "RFE review".

Does this mean now it is back under regular review now and an NOA2 is soon? Or is this a glitch in the system?

It's not us, but an application 6 numbers from ours that was also transferred ( not on VJ that I can tell) was approved yesterday, our NOA1 date was the 27th of May so I'm assuming that person's was as well.

Looks like it is a glitch since 3 of us all received a notification, and 2 of us haven't received RFEs (I am assuming jmango4 hasn't received a RFE either).

Something semi-related: I found out today that USCIS is looking to hire an IT person to improve its website and communication/notification system (opening found here: https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/380039400). After my experiences, I can see why they need it!

I got a notification on Sept 5th saying we were approve (i posted this on the previous page of the thread).

I just now got another notification which was the same notification I got on Aug 11th saying the petition has been transferred:

What is going on here?

On Aug 11th I got this:

--

On August 11, 2014, we transferred your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed

--

Then on Sept 5th I got this:

--

On September 5, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

--

Now tonight Sept 9th I just got the following notification again:

--

On August 11, 2014, we transferred your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed

--
How is this possible? I'm going to call USCIS tomorrow, but wondering if anyone else is experiencing this??
