last week it said in transit now it says Ready. So confusing

I was trying to locate the post I read not too long ago concerning the meanings of the NVC case statuses, but wasn't able to track it down. Anyways, here's the information I received from that post...

The case goes to IN TRANSIT when it has left the NVC and on it's way to the embassy.

The next status is READY. NVC sends both an electronic copy as well as a harcopy of the file to the embassy. Since the electronic copy makes it to the embassy much quicker, it's possible for the case status to update to READY on the NVC website prior to the hardcopy making it to the embassy.

But the embassy will notify you once they have received the hardcopy file.

but it is 830 at night are they still open?

Open until midnight Eastern time. You might not be able to get through after 11:30 ET though.

Prepare to get a busy signal a few times and when you finally get through, you'll be on hold for 30-40 minutes probably.
