Congrats on the recent approvals! Question, at the NVC phase are background checks on the petitioner and beneficiary again or just the beneficiary since it is nearing the visa stage ?

I'm not exactly sure what NVC processing consists of but from what I read it may be background/name checks and/or document verification. But it seems to only be taking a few days to about a week for NVC to process the case before sending along to the embassy.

Hi Loveslin509,

With that case number you should be able to track your case at ceac.state.gov to see when it's mailed out to the embassy. Turn around time from the time it leaves NVC to when it arrives to the embassy can vary, but I would say about 1-2 weeks. The embassy will contact you with additional instructions once they have received the case. Some embassys send out a packet while others send email notification. In the meantime you and your fiancé(e) should start preparing/gathering documents and information that will be needed for the interview. You can take a look at your embassy's page for additional information specific to their processing. Hopefully you find that helpful :)

I just sent an e-mail to my Congresswoman to see if her office can get any more info about my case. The NVC people have been very friendly, but just tell me repeatedly, "You'll just have to wait for one of us to reply to your e-mail." Yeah, thanks guys! How long does it take to reply to an e-mail??

Don't worry, I seem to be the exception in this case. They haven't given me a case number because they say they haven't received it from USCIS yet. USCIS says it mailed my file. Given USCIS' track record, I believe NVC.

quick question. Back in August I got my first ticket in my whole life because I did not renew my registration on time. I think the cop was intimidated by me as he was shaking like he had Parkinson's disease when giving me the ticket because he was being a jerk about it but, I went to court the date indicated and in as much as I walked in I was walking out as my case was dismissed. Will this be an issue at the NVC or Embassy stage?

I don't know how it would be. if it were an issue, then we all would have some type of "issue". You just got a ticket for having an unregistered car right? And you ended up not having to pay the ticket? Sounds like you're lucky in one way at least!
