I browsed visa journey for almost a year before joining officially. In the past I've seen many transfers with 130s and 129. Typically a transfer is a good thing. It means your petition will likely get approved within a month or the longest I've seen is two months. Now how they select who gets transferred is anyone's guess including mine. But if you just search transfer history and read people's timelines that they have at the bottom as their signature in older posts, a lot of them were approved pretty quickly . . .

Thanks. That makes me feel better. And thank you for not telling me I don't have a right to freak out yet. That makes me angry because everyone handles this in their own way. I've got a lot going on & this is just one more thing on the list of things I have no control over but have a major impact on me.

So I am kind of lost...

I received a first email saturday saying that my petition was transferred on August 8th to another office.

And now I just received another email saying that my petition has been sent to our local USCIS office...

I am kind of worried because I am wondering if in this local office they are used to do that and if it won't take them forever to approve our petition.... But at the same time, being sent to our local office means that petitionts are going to be sent in several offices all over the US and so there will be less petitions in one same place.... (Sorry if I am confusing)

So I don't really know how to feel! Even if I am actually glad that things are moving anyway. Because waiting without any news for months is really hard!

Is there other VJ members who got 2 different emails about their transfer too?

Relax and take a few deep breaths! Everything will be fine! This is good news as your petition will be processed faster. Local offices have processed them before and will do it again at some point in the future. Imagine how many people at your local office want a k1 versus yours and 2 other locations where ALL petitions go! It's better to have thousands of petitions spread out over 40 - 50 local centers than only 2 places doing them anyway.

The first email is just a notice of transfer.

And the second email is just stating where it went too. Nothing to worry about. They are just letting you know where they send it too.

Ok! Thank you for reassuring me ! :)

I was trying to see if local offices handled I129f's before and came across this http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/441796-faq-case-transfers-to-another-service-center/

I am not sure if it is still accurate, but it basically says that the first notice you all received meant your electronic file had been transferred to another service center and the second one saying it had been transferred to a local office meant that your physical file had been transferred.. and you will get a third text soon that means your physical file has been received. So according to this it means you are going to another service center (California? Vermont even?) rather than a "local office"

granted - i am definitely new to this, and this absolutely can be outdated - but just wanted to share what i found since it looked like the messages you all received

good luck guys!!

edit- i am clearly new and can't even figure out how to post a link - but it is the faq-case-transfers-to-another-service-center - i dont know why it won't post

I think everyone is reading "Local" too literally. If there are only 2 offices that process I-129f's and you are being sent away from one, then the only other local office is CSC (probably). Little field offices are not staffed or trained for these matters so it would not make sense to send them there. The government loves to send multiple messages saying the same thing. How many of you have ever dealt with the IRS or Unemployment Office? Same thing. The government wastes more paper than any organization on the planet.

I am sure they mean the same thing. Like I said...they love status messages. I am surprised they don't send you one stating your petition just moved from the office to the mail room. Then another notifying you that it has been loaded on a truck. Then another to say it was shipped. See where I am going with this?

Relax. It is a different message telling you the same thing. Expect another notice in a few days stating it has been received at CSC and a new number has been assigned.

Edit. I just saw what SaraandGavin wrote...that is what I am trying to say.

Do I hear wine corks popping? I sure hope so. :)
