Is civil surgeon and/or vaccine shots in US covered by health insurance?

If US government says, its required health check and shots,

I wonder why health insurance is not covering them... Arrgggg...

Yes, my actual medical was not covered. I had to pay $175 on the spot. They didn't care where I got my shots, as long as I had proof of it. My chest x-ray (TB) was also covered by my US insurance.

Civil surgeon transcribe vaccination records to I-693 which is of course you have to pay that by your own since health insurance won't pay your immigration papers. You don't have to do whole medical if you already did it in your country within a year. You can get vaccination shots covered by medical insurance or at least what I have read so far.

Remember the other poster is adjusting from different visa which is I believe from student visa. She/he had to do whole medical in the US. But, you are adjusting from K-1 visa as long as your vaccination records is completed and all boxes are ticked, all you need is just send the copy of your vaccination records when adjusting of your status and your medical is good for a year. You don't need I-693. Just waste your money.

You can get the needed vaccinations from your personal doctor and have it covered with insurance, or go to the local health dept. for cheaper shots. You would take the records of those vaccinations with you to a civil surgeon to get them transcribed onto an I-693. No medical needed if your K-1 medical was done within a year. It can be hard to find a CS willing to do just the vaccinations, so you may need to call around and check out the thread here on VJ with a list of civil surgeons that don't rip you off. As far as I know, civil surgeons are not covered by insurance, especially if you are just getting the vaccination transcription.

Civil surgeon is out of pocket. This is not covered expense. Shots ARE covered.

If you have a medical flexible spending account you may be able to use that. I have one and when I called the company they advised the complete visit will be covered.
