oh, and what was the letter about? Was the interview appointmet? i just have to wait..

It was a noa1 for an I-485 form. We're still waiting on the interview appt notice that'll come in later. They resent the noa1 two days after I called them, according to the post mark, and they did have the wrong address on record with the original envelope stating that that was the reason it got returned. For whatever reason you didn't get your letter, they'll have it on record of you trying to right it. If the interview date passes by the time you receive the notice, I read that another couple did a walk-in explaining the reason with proof and they were able to get in. Hope this can help you out.

Which is true, but someone's status can change only a few days after biometrics to "testing and interview" which means their case is in line for an interview. However, they will not receive an appointment date until their local office has one, which can be several months. So your status can be "testing and interview" for 3 months (or more).

Ah I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I just thought that the case status goes from "initial review" to "decision" which usually takes +/- 3 months. I don't even see an area titled "testing and interview". Only when I click the description page do I see a listing for it. Is it common for one's status to change that quickly after biometrics? It's been a week since mine and my case status still remains at initial review :/

I'm not sure how common it is, but there is someone here on this thread who did a biometrics walk-in on September 9, and status change on September 17 to testing and interview. Others waited 3 weeks. That is not an indicator of how fast you will get your interview appointment though (unfortunately for some, fortunately for others). Today has been 14 days for me since biometrics. Hang in there!

Vitrovalves,

what are you adjusting from? Also, have you been in the US for a long time?

I've read that if you've been hear a long time and let's say maybe adjusting from an H1B, then the background check can take longer due to the long history. Maybe, it could be that? I hope it changes to T and I soon for you, I know it is hard to just be waiting.

J1 from December, 2013.

My name in Portuguese is very common, I wouldn't find strange if they find lots of "hits" of it on my background check. But anyway, this waiting game is very tough, specially seeing almost every timeline here at VJ moving to testing and interview after 10 - 15 days from biometrics

I think maybe you can try look in the older filer threads at the signatures/timelines of people who have gone through the same thing. Even though I would think it varies greatly by case, that might still give you an idea of what to expect. Good to hear that they are reviewing it!
