Ok I received my RFE but in confused as to what they want

It says I have submitted secondary evidence and/or birth affidavit as proof of your birth record. However the evidence you have submitted us insufficient.

I submitted the translated birth record that I submitted at the embassy ( for my k2 son) what possibly could they want?

Any help or advice would be appreciated

in the checked box it says

you have submitted secondary evidence and/or a birth affidavit as proof of your birth record. However the evidence you have submitted is insufficient

Examples of acceptable secondary evidence may include but is not limited to, church or school records listing your parents names and your date of birth, hospital records of your birth or other official records indicating country and record of birth..

in addition to a birth affidavit or secondary evidence Title 8 code of federal regulations section 103.2 (b)(2)(ii) states:where a record does not exist the applicant or petitioner must submit an original written statement on government letterhead establishing this from the relevant government or other authority. The statement must indicate the reason the record does not exist or indicate whether similar records for the time and place are available it must contain one of the following

A legible seal

a legible stamp

a signature with a title containing the words: secretary, registrar or births and deaths

information regarding the availability of birth records from an applicants country of birth may be found in the us dept of state foreign affairs manual. an indication in the foreign affairs manual that birth certificates are generally unavailable will be considered acceptable evidence the applicants birth certificate is not available

additional info on acceptable north records for people born outside the US can be found ar www.state.gov

more info see form I-485 instructions

like i said i submitted the same translated birth record at the embassy so i cant understand why they are asking again?

thank you in advance

This is for your son or for you? Why don't you have a birth certificate for your son? What is a birth record? Who issued the record? Why don't you have primary evidence, like a birth certificate issued by the appropriate authority?

They are saying whatever translated birth record you sent(you also need to send the one in the foreign language that the translation came from) was secondary evidence of birth, but you also need to send the part I put in bold above. They could also be stating what you sent was not sufficient as secondary evidence either. They are letting you know what is acceptable.

What you sent to the embassy does not matter at this point. The I-485 requires birth certificate from the applicant and if the birth certificate is in a foreign language, then it must be accompanied by an English translation.

Harpa your tone is a little unnecessary I do have a birth record and if you would have read earlier it says for my k2 son. This is the whole reason why it doesn't make sense what they are requesting is because I sent that. I'm wondering if they mean the family card also ( my wife and son are from Indonesia) and this ( family card) has some information like parents names place of birth etc

I do want help!!! All that information I wrote above was from the RFE letter and what they said they wanted. I have ( I'm pretty sure) the required documents translated from Indonesia which would qualify as secondary evidence. And I sent the birth certificate/affidavit translated with my packet.
