I discovered a void between my lawyer and my self, a disconnect.

I am having a difficult time with periodic updates, what was sent where and so on.

Flat rate service and I believe them to be honest to what they said they would provide.

Any words of wisdom? I have been deliberate and tactful , not to seem like a ball buster.

Thanks

have you called NVC to see what they say, if they are waiting on documents or received them yet? you could send a formal letter to your atty asking for a copy of what has been sent or go up there if you can also. be persistant, nothing wrong with that.

That is always going to happen. The lawyer doesn't care about the case as much as you do. Processing goes a long time with no updates to give, so it's unclear what you want them to say.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I had similar issues with my lawyer but in the end I am paying him for a service. There's nothing wrong with calling and getting information from your attorney, even if it means being a pain in the butt. If you paid for their service then they are obligated to fulfill their part. As i explained to my lawyer, I completely understand that I am not his only client, but a response to an inquiry, no matter how small the response is, is much better than none at all. He has secretaries in his office that can call or email me and give me an update. Its common courtesy to be acknowledged. He's been much better about responding lately. It is a painfully slow and frustrating process but in the end it will be worth it. :) good luck

Depends what type of service you paid for.

I should have requested an Itemized Bill.

I am completely in the dark as far time lapse from when I deliver to her office the completed collection of docs she required..... from then on I know nothing ..when she completed ... when she sent them or how ( electronically or mail)

she is out of touch with her clients' sensitivity...

no buyers remorse ......flat rate service has to be volumuos and ......I should have done my home work .....

Everything with the I-130/NVC process could of easily been done by yourself. It is a very simple process with using VJ as your guide.

I learned years ago you can never trust a lawyer, definitely with something as important as your life. You are paperwork to them, that they can neglect at anytime, you're in charge of your life.

I know lawyers can be shady, do you atleast know the NOA2 was passed? I know that might sound scary, but they're known to lie for $$$. If you don't know, call the USCIS immediately. Same goes for the NVC process, someone there will help you.

Take charge, it is your life at the end of the day.

You contract should specify the services provided, my guess is that it did not include regular updates. If it did they you have a cause to complain.

One of the reasons I didn't have a lawyer doing the work for me even though everyone kept telling me to get a lawyer as things might go quicker and smoother.

In my opinion, every bit of information is available online, every answer is available. So why bother paying these lawyers $$$$? It's not as if they can expedite the process.
