Man Posing For Gun Selfie Dies After Firearm Goes Off: Report

Marvin, Marvin, Marvin...

We all know that guns don't kill. Guns can do no harm. In this case it's more than obvious that danger can be attributed to the smartphone and its use. Phones - smart or otherwise - were never meant to take pictures. Phones were invented so that people could talk. It's a slippery slope.

Spread the word: 'Selfies KIll!'

A man's attempt to take a dramatic selfie reportedly turned tragic earlier this month when the loaded gun with which he was posing went off and killed him.

According to Mexican newspaper Excelsior, Oscar Otero Aguilar, a 21-year-old man from Mexico City, had been drinking with friends before the incident occurred. The friends reportedly said Aguilar had grabbed a gun with the intention of posing with it for a selfie, which he intended to post on Facebook.

Police said Aguilar had "borrowed the gun and was waving it around" as he attempted to take a photo, WFTS-TV reports.

The gun, however, went off, and Aguilar was shot in the head. He died soon afterward.

Damn shame. Alcohol and firearms don't mix.

Glad to see that you're finally understanding.

In this case it is so clear cut that the gun had nothing to do with the tragedy, it is hard not to see it. Had this man not been fooling around with his smartphone this tragedy wouldn't have happened. The gun had absolutely nothing to do with it.

The gun would have been perfectly fine, if the idiot hadn't loaded it and mishandled it. ;)

Depending on the gun, the idiot might even have had to take the safety off and actually pull the trigger!

See? The gun is innocent, your honour. :)

Nicely put counselor, but to prove this theory, all you need do is replace 'gun' by 'popsicle'. If he were holding a popsicle in its stead, he would still be alive.

And if you stick an 8" chef's knife thru your heart you'll probably die too. If you walk in front of an 18 wheeler doing 60 mph you might get killed. What's your point?

Ah, but the flaw in that line of argument is that if you replace the idiot with the popsicle, there would again be no fatality. So the lethal element here is the idiot.

Oh, and if you spend some time sharpening the popsicle to a point, you can actually kill someone with it. Of course, that still requires the input of an idiot. ;)

So, again, we're back to the idiot being the lethal element.

Or guns and stupid people.

But it happened in Mexico.

Many folk, myself included, would think - "Hey ! That's one less illegal alien getting entry into the U.S.A.".

One less, is always great, regardless of why.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

some local news this morning, dad shot his daughter thinking she was an intruder (she was sneaking back in her home after sneaking out).

Not necessarily true. I'm sure you are familiar with the term "brain freeze", which comes from eating something very cold too fast.

Now just imagine how much worse the onset of brain freeze (and hence it could become lethal) if one were to stick said popsicle in their ear...
