You've never seen me say that because I have never said it. Yes, I question the wisdom of keeping a firearm in the house and surely don't see a need for it but I don't think I have ever said that whether another person keeps a gun in their home is somehow my business. I do like to point out that way too much damage is done by these firearms that people keep in their homes. "Accidental" shootings are so common that they don't even command media attention anymore. This recent story I posted did get attention because the woman killed was pregnant and her unborn died as well as a result of this "accidental" shooting. Not sure why there is anything wrong with raising awareness of the very real dangers of keeping a gun in the home.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the clarification.

There isn't anything wrong with it. Just like there isn't anything wrong with raising awareness that guns also do prevent crime and save lives.

You posted the other story because you just couldn't post that you agreed with the elderly woman. You can provide no statistics to show crimes prevented vs gun used against homeowner. Another deflection.

I didn't and I couldn't are two different things. I chose not to. So what? And to your stats, you are as free to post stats on what you want as I am to post stats on what I want. You can run around pretending that the dangers arising from guns in homes do not exist - that's your choice and it's fine by me. But the dangers are very real and they do cost plenty of lives each and every year in this country and no, they do not actually go away just because you want to deny them.

That is true. And now we have highlighted both in this thread. Not sure why that upsets you so much.

Its just point and counterpoint me thinks. Fairly normal in arguments of this nature.

Last I checked, that is how discussions are typically structured.

I don't need to deny anything. I am a moderate, level headed, responsible gun owner whose life doesn't revolve around guns. Imagine that!

I'm thinking that's what MBD post was really about. There are some gun owners here that truly believe you can't live without having a firearm. If you're not packing heat, you might as well put a sign up and advertise that you're unarmed and defenseless. You're living on borrowed time. Any day now, you're going to be violated, robbed, and killed(not in that order) all because you don't have a gun.

I've never seem him be against having a gun for self defense.

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

You did get your panties all in wad over my posting the story I posted, though. Imagine that!

I'm against that for myself only.
