names are just an example*

First Name : Michael (should be John as the first name)

Middle Name: John (should be Michael as the middle name)

Surname: Written Correctly! Surprisingly

Birth Date: Has The Wrong Year says 1972 when it should be 1962

ugh!

Do I Need A Court Order?

we noticed this big mistake the day of our USCIS Interview!

so everything went great except this! so the person who interviewed us said

he's pretty much approved but we need this fixed and that we have 3 months

and to return to show that we fixed this.

so far I've gotten my dad's document translated and notarized online (rev.com)

I didn't want to do it myself because I'm already stressed about how to even begin this process

http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/birthdeathmar/Documents/CourtOrderNameChangePAMPHLET-(01-14)-MERGED.pdf

I don't know what forms to get

the lady handed me for V 24 not sure if that's even the right one...

HI, ok i am not in california, i live in georgia, however, i had to go through the same thing. my daughters birth certificate had my information wrong, and i never realized it. i did not need a court order, i had to get a certified copy of my birth certificate and a certified copy of hers and on the back of hers here it has a section for changes and it had to be notarized by her parents (me and her dad) then i took my certified copy of birth certificate and hers and filled out amendment form and they corrected it without a court order because it did not fall under any court order category amendments, i think the process is relatively similar there too. hope this helps.

have you called the mexican consulate? or the registro civil where he was born? or will california accept his birth cetificate how it is? i dont see why it should take a long time its just a hassle with all of the paperwork. i am the us citizen and my parents were born here so i was able to get my certified birth certificate same day because it was just my information was wrong on my daughters bc. but i know the mexican consulate here in atlanta can get the official ones from mexico acceptable here and their document turnaround is pretty quick.
