Russian bombers penetrated U.S. airspace at least 16 times in past 10 days

Honestly we do it all the time and so do they. There are incidents from 2012 where we intercepted them and escorted them out, remember the two stealth bombers earlier this year we flew into China airspace? Remember the US spy plane that crashed into a Chinese fighter plane in the early 2000's that they sent back to us in pieces?

This is nothing new, they just stepped up the number (which Putin has done twice before) to let us know they are not happy.. We have done the same to them and the Chinese..

Scramble fighters (assuming you see it). Have fighters confront bogey and proceed to engage bogey verbally and escort to international waters. If that doesn't work, fire warning shots. If that doesn't work, take them out. I'm sure the military has a standard procedure to follow that doesn't involve immediate aggressive response.

The US has shown restraint where North Korea is concerned too. Google the 1976 Axe Murder or Tree Trimming incident when 2 US soldiers were killed by N. Korean soldiers.

An ADIZ is not technically part of our airspace. It's the same type of ADIZ China was trying to enforce rules for outside of their airspace last year, which we laughed off and promptly flew a couple of bombers through.

The Russians gauge reaction times, monitor the radar frequencies, gather as much signal intelligence they can and, in the case of the Bear H, see how far away the drone of those big turboprops drowns out the howl of the intercepting aircrafts' engines.

Not exactly, but there is an RC-135W Rivet Joint ELINT platform orbiting over the Baltic right now (there usually is) and the Russians chased one of these into Swedish airspace just recently.

I think a sharp increase could be 50% more. Last month it happened 10 times. This month 15. Not to much to be concerned about. probably happens all the time...from both sides.

By your definition, this is indeed a sharp increase. Used to be days, if not weeks, between these flights, once the Russians restarted them. I'd have to check, but after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russians stopped these flights altogether for a number of years.
