Hi everyone. I'm Julianna, married to Ammar from Jordan. We're both in bioarchaeology (human remains in archaeology-- physical anthropology-- (sometimes called osteoarchaeology in Europe), which is how we met. We were working together on the same excavation. It was my graduate field school and he was working there as a TA for Yarmouk University.

Anyway, I made a site a while back then moved it to this newer page.. where I left behind a couple of posts but this is the majority of them! And this is the one I update now :)

We got married about 4 months after we met but have never lived together for over 7 weeks due to me being poor and a graduate student and him being barred from coming here because of immigration. Otherwise we would have just been here immediately!

So anyway, I'm just a lurker who came here to look at the rumors of interviews moving up. Ours was granted October 6, 2006 (although they sent the packet to ME not HIM on November 27, 2006 which is when I found out about his date of June 18, 2007). The embassy originally told me to expect no less than 11 months, and this is ahead of what they had told me. So I am not sure that we'll be eligable for moving up.

It's been strange and difficult to do this alone and without any lawyers, etc. But so far, things have worked out and seem to be on track or even ahead of those I know who have lawyers.. so.. can't complain. I'm just excited to have a date to count down, because countdowns just excite me in general. Not knowing? That is what really sucks. I wish you all good luck.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Timeline

Hi Julianna,

Welcome to VJ! I just recently became a member but I have been visiting the site for a while now. My fiance and I have been going through the Visa nightmare for over a year now. We are also going through the embassy in Amman so we have something in common. My fiance had his Visa interview on October 12, 2006, he was approved but we have yet to receive the actual visa. It is currently in "administrative processing" and it could be another 6 months before we get anything. I don't want to discourage you but that is how things have been working out at the embassy in Amman lately. They are just so swamped since they are dealing with Visa petitions from Iraq and Syria as well as Jordan. Since yours is a K-3 visa and I am filing for a K-1 (fiance) hopefully you won't have to wait as long as I am having to. We live together in Amman for a few months and had a wonderful time, but like you, I am poor and had to return to the US to get back to work. Good luck with your journey!

Thanks guys!

Mandolin, I applied for K-3 but the I-130 moved faster than the fiance visa, so he's interviewing on the I-130 spouse and not the fiance. We're just hoping things just kind of move along. We'd like to get him here before next november!

Welcome to VJ. This a great group of people. I hope your interview moves up. Amman has really changed since we went thru there. In 2004 it was about a 3 month wait from returning packet 3 til interview. Then we watched it go to 5 months and now a year. Good luck!
