This absolutely terrifies me. My fiance and I are filing today and have a wedding date of the 24th May 2015. I'm so so worried that my visa won't arrive in time! He's from the US, i'm from the UK. We have 9 1/2 months for everything to come through. I guess all I can do is hope that it will all get done on time.

I hope it does too, for your sake, but there is a reason why they specifically say not to make any plans (wedding, travel, etc.) with definite dates.

I'm to the point that I struggle to find words to describe how I feel about this process anymore.

My fiance and I are new filers - July 2 - but at this rate I'm losing hope fast that this is going to be adjudicated faster than I lose my mind over it. I've tried to scale back - my fiance and I agreed to check the case status together, only once, on the weekends that we spend on Skype.

To begin with - being told we have to let another person who knows nothing about us make the decision that we can be together (arguing it's our choice for the USA doesn't help, no matter what someone has to decide for us) is just infuriating.

Second, to have the timeline just stomped all over depending on the whim of USCIS, caseload, presidential decrees or whatever the heck is going on this week.

All that is happening is that I am growing angrier by the day - which doesn't bode well, since we only just began this process and we have a long wait.

The imbalance at CSC vs TSC infuriates me, the approvals of new filers while old filers wait infuriates me, the inability of congressmen/women to be able to do anything about this infuriates me, the fact that they have no trouble cashing my check quick-time but then take who knows how long to actually do anything about my petition infuriates me, the fact that as a law abiding, tax paying American citizen my request gets equal or less treatment than DACA filers infuriates me... Oh god I could go on and on.

My fiance and I have been long distance for over 5 years, yet this process is just killing any hope I had of us being together within a year from our file date. This is the hardest thing we'll ever do and it's unfortunately being drug through a system that is incredibly flawed.

*mutter* :ranting:

I know. We had planned to have everything sent off last month which would have helped but due to a lot of different factors, it didn't happen.

I agree with you. We have been long distance for 2 yrs and it wasn't bad due to the fact I can get on a plane and go see him but now that we have actually filed(May 8th) this has been the longest 3 months. And to ur point of having to leave the decision as to whether my love and relationship are real in the hands of some random person is not fair. Best of luck and prayers to everyone.☺

it's pretty ridiculous how they don't give us any timelines but they prefer it when ppl have proof of planning the wedding. How can I plan anything when I don't even know when he will get here? We talk about the wedding a lot, and we started creating a guestlist but all this stuff can change so many times during the year!

I have been long distance for 6 months and this has been a very dreadful waiting period. Originally I had thought he would be here before the end of the year. I have accepted that that won't happen. I do think TSC is catching up though, everyday you can see that petitions are getting approved. Now they are handling Feb. petitions. Hopefully they can get done with Feb. soon and start March and so on. Patience is a virtue and I can manage as long as everything approved. Best of luck to everyone as well... just hang in there and don't lose faith.

You are a hero. I thought we would be fine, we last saw each other May 27 and I'm already going to visit. Things at home have been really difficult for me, and when he misses me he starts having all these doubts, so we are like two junkies needing a dose. sigh

I think the best thing (and worst thing for some couples) about this process being so difficult is that it really tests your strength and resilience as a couple far beyond the scope that many "domestic" couples are usually exposed to before they are married. While it certainly isn't fair by any means that those individuals who fall in love with someone from another country are seemingly punished by the incredibly anti-immigrant sentiment of the American immigration system, it should serve as a very strong reassurance that if you can make it through this arduous and infuriating process, you can certainly make it over any other obstacle that presents itself throughout the course of your marriage.

I've been with my fiance 2 years, and I was lucky enough that he lived with me on a J-1 visa during the entirety of one of those years. The longest we have ever been apart is 2.5 months. I last saw him in Ireland on June 5th, so we are already nearly there again and haven't received our NOA2. Though it's difficult, we do our best to just focus on the fact that this is the last time we will ever be apart and we will never have to say goodbye to each other in an airport ever again. And, reading the stories of others, it appears as though we are probably one of the luckier couples in terms of the amount of time we've spent together in person. So we are just grateful for what we have, and that makes it easier to cope with haveing so little control over this process.

We went through a phase where we were just mad, angry and frustrated by everything, (I think most people do) but realized it was only stressing us out and making us unhappy. Just really wasn't constructive at all. So I just started researching to figure out all of the things I could do within my power to help the process along. Also, I took up yoga. And that helped A LOT! Hahahahahahaha :D

We're addressing it by me going for a visit. Thank you for stating the obvious. I'm sure no one here had a perfectly easy 6 months where you didn't go "this freaking sucks, we are basically living apart holding on to a promise." We are all strong people if we embarked on this journey to begin with but don't give me that "you have to be super strong" stuff, we all know it's much easier said than done.

I think it was only suggested that you have to be strong because the way you worded it made it seem as though you have doubt regarding wanting to be together, which is definitely something that should be addressed in this type of situation....
