Hey all! So, ( praying for the less obvious answer) I originally submitted the DS 261 on July 2nd.. The 30 day mark will make it August 11th! Nonetheless I touched it on July 15th, it read as "incomplete" and I resubmitted.. Someone PLEASE tell me I didn't just extend my review date? :(

Yes, when you re-open and send it again, it resets your date. Others have done the same in the monthly NVC thread (which I suggest you join).

I don't even know what to say anymore.. This is simply depressing.. Can I get the link for the thread? so much goes on here and I have a hard time figuring out how to find things?! Please and Thank You!

Question, I never received a confirmation email like I did for the first time I completed and submitted, does that matter?

I don't know anything about emails. But from reading others that have re-opened the DS-261, it's reset the date.

OMG! After reading this post I went to check on my DS-261 that I filed last week and I just wanted to check any mistakes, well apparently I screwed something up because the next thing I read was the sign IMCOMPLETE! I am never checking anything again. So, let me see if this is clear, now I have to wait two months for it to be process?

Yep. Hopefully it won't take 2 months for them to review it but if you clicked your DS-261 after it was already completed then you reset submit date.

You should call NVC right away and ask if they show it as complete.

I am the USC Petitioner. My wonderful wife Laura is from Scotland.

I am going to tell you something, the people that work at NVC are complete idiots. I have called 32 times since November last year to this day, and I always end up with more questions than answers. Maybe I am just talking out of frustration, maybe it is just this long process that is taking a toll on me, who knows. I have a friend whose English is very limited and she filed the DS-261 on her own. Her only mistake was that were it says SURNAME, she mistakenly put down, MRS, but on the part that says; GIVEN NAME, she put her entire name. Now, do you think that the people that work at NVC will have common sense and realize that it was obviously a mistake, and JUST enter her name.THEY KNOW THE RIGHT NAME BECAUSE THEY CAN SEE IT ON THEIR COMPUTER WHEN THEY ENTER THE CASE NUMBER, instead, they wait to months to send her the notice that she messed up that little line. Are you still with me? This is the reason why I think that they have a whole bunch of idiots working there, and it takes forever yo process the simplest thing, A NAME... My form says complete. Now, I am just freaking out because any little thing that you miss to put down can set you back for months.

I am sorry, let me correct that I have been calling USCIS AND NVC together since November last year to this day, 32 times. Not just NVC, they are the same way at uscis.

You can log on to the ceac website as many times as you want but just make sure you don't click on any icon that showed as COMPLETED.

Thanks, but that information would have useful a couple of days ago, lol... Now, I know. I guess that we learn from our mistakes ?

Quite possibly. Call up NVC to see what date they have on file for your DS-261. That's the best way to know.
