Hi all

This may not be in the correct area, so please advise if so.

We found out last week that my wife (US Citizen) is pregnant, and we are over the moon. However, I am now looking ahead at the legal side of things. I am guessing that with the child being born in the US, once registered, it will have a US passport, and be a US citizen?

Is it then just a case of registering the child as a UK citizen too? Or am I being too naive?!

You got it right. The child will be a USC and UKC at birth. More paperwork to get the UKC recognized. I am sure a search for "british citizen born abroad" will get you what you need. Good luck.
