No cover letter is needed, petitioner only need to send copy

of PP, no passport photos only the intending immigrant PP photos

No, the USC needs one passport photo for the I-130.

A cover letter is a good idea.

We sent six for each applicant (1 K1 and 1 K2)! 2 each for I-485, I-131, and I-765. I didn't attach any for the g-325a. I hope that wasn't necessary too, since 8 seems like overkill. I also didn't include any pictures of myself (USC). And a cover letter itemizing what's in the application also helps YOU organize and make a checklist for all you're including.

You definitely do need a photo as the USC for the g-325a! It is outlined in the USCIS instructions as well as here in the visa guides.

A cover letter is a good idea for you but also for the person receiving it. Imagine opening a package with a 1 inch thick stack of papers. Without a cover letter it would be substantially harder to organize and the chances of pages going missing could increase etc.

The USCIS has package assembly tips that I followed. http://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-and-fees/general-tips-assembling-applications-mailing

I reasoned that the easier I made it on the recipient, the better.

Guys, this is the concurrent AOS forum. Please make the advice appropriate for concurrent AOS, unless the OP clarifies that they are filing a K-1 AOS.

you don't "need" one but you should have one. kind of like when you apply for jobs, cover letters are usually not required but you should submit one anyway :) if this helps, here's a page with a link to my cover letter.

For concurrent filing of I-130 and I-485: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

-Do note that each form has its own requirements. So 2 pictures each, etc. The link has a good checklist for you to follow.

The I-765 and the I-131 are optional to be filed with the I-485. But if you guys decide to apply for these, just do note that they also need to be submitted with their own supporting documents. Additional 2 pictures each, etc.

A cover letter is optional. But it's definitely a good idea to have this since it shows a summary of the application contents and will be easier for whoever will review the application.
