I am petitioning for my wife who is in Indonesia. We are currently awaiting our IV Fee Bill. My question involves the Police Report. From the Jakarta, Indonesia Embassy they indicate that for the interview that the Police Report is NOT required. Should I have an official copy and an English language translation of the Police Report to send with the IV packet?

"Police Certificate

Please note Indonesian Police Certificate is not required."

Thank you so much for your help!

It's from the official embassy website so they should know if they require it or not. If they are telling you it's not required, it's probably because they do a background check themselves, I wouldn't know. If they tell me it's not required, I wouldn't send it if it's not required. Have you tried calling the NVC or embassy to see what they tell you?

Yes calling them is the fastest, even if they put you on hold. Every embassy/consulate has different requirements so the NVC should know based on your file what this embassy requires or not.

I did email the NVC, but got no reply to my email. I will try calling them, good suggestion.

This table is your best friend to finding out who doesn't require police certificates and how to get anything from whatever country:

You are right, Police Certificates are unavailable but if you've been in prison for more than 1 year you can obtain those records. ;)

Just got off the phone with the NVC and they did confirm that police reports for Indonesia are unavailable.

I asked a lot of questions tonight and my helper was a little grumpy

Just hoping now that they will review our DS-261 quickly. Really, what is there to review? It is nothing more than the "shipping address" on Amazon or thousands of on-line shopping sites. It is already completed by us :ranting:

Yes that is correct Indo police clearance is not required.

If your wife lived more than six months abroad, then you'll need it from the respective countries.

no if she lived more than 12 months, not 6. ;)
