Hello!!

I'm in line to be scheduled for an interview but it happens we're moving to new york in 2 weeks. How do I change the address or reschedule the interview for the new state I'm gonna be living in? (if it's already scheduled by when I move).

I know there's the online tool, but then I've been reading people mentioning AR-11's and a change of address for the I-864 too? I don't have a confirmation number for the I-864 as it's supplemental with I-485..

I'm lost. Any help will be appreciated!

Thank you :goofy:

Yeah I'm gonna do that. But do you know why you have to change the address for the I-864 too? Like do you have to send a new one or how does it works?

You go on-line and complete the AR-11 and also must notify the USCIS about the pending application. The USC petitioner must complete the I-865 until the I-864 is no longer enforceable. Make certain to reschedule the interview by following the instructions on your NOA1. Given the problems others have had in changing their addresses with a pending AOS interview and not going to the scheduled interview and then having USCIS deny their AOS due to abandonment for not showing up at the interview, I would see if it is at all possible to go to the currently scheduled interview and then change your address.

Good luck,

Dave

Can I change my address without having to re schedule my interview? I could fly to FL again for the interview and then have someone mail my green card to me.

yea i filed 1 AR-11 (for the i485) and my sponsor filed 1 AR-11 (for the i130) and 1 i865 (for the i864). USCIS wants to make sure that the sponsor can always be tracked down.

I would complete the on-line change of address and file the I-865 and not reschedule the interview if you can fly to FL and still have access to the mail at the old address. Less change of USCIS screwing up the address change and rescheduling the interview and denying the AOS due to not showing up at the currently scheduled interview.

Good luck,

Dave

But I read that when you change your address they will re-schedule your interview. Plus the state you're living in at the present has jurisdiction over your case now. What do you know about this?

I am in a similar situation and my lawyer researched everything, finding that for a green card interview, the jurisdiction doesn't matter, just for naturalization.

Hi @jxn, I know it's long long time ago for you, but I came across your response and I am having similar issue with address change. I moved cross country to another state, changed my address with usics (also received confirmation), but my interview was still scheduled at my old address. Did you go to your old address's uscis office for interview? And what happened? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi there, we ended up getting an interview at the correct location after updating the address. I would suggest calling USCIS and seeking advice from a tier 2 agent. Good luck!

Thank you for your response! So essentially you rescheduled the interview? How long did it take to change to the correct location?

I don't recall the specifics but we changed the address after biometrics and before ever being scheduled for an interview, so it was pretty seamless.
