Hey guys,

My husband went to the appointment. They told him that the background checks started in February, and that everything looks within processing time for them. They are seriously backlogged and nothing we can do.

They also said that they do not offer legal counsel and we are free to do whatever we want (contact senator, congressman, ombudsman, etc).

So.. at least now we know when those background checks started.

You have given a great idea for the administrators of the forum.. but I suppose that since "so many different factors" are involved in this supposed background checks, times would vary greatly.

I just want to thank you all so much for your help and for keeping cheering for us. This is a very difficult time but at least we ot a tiny bit of an answer and now we know that for them, this is a perfectly normal timeline. ::: sigh :::

oh my goodness Una.... ((hugs)) you have the patience of a saint!! I'm glad to hear you guys have found a place :) May it be a place of peace & love ((hugs))







....so a quick update.... finally got to speak to a supervisor (Mari) today, and let me say she was awesome!!



The issue is that they don't think my divorce certificate is the right one.... she worked with me to go through what their example is and how it compared to what the courthouse gave me. I sent the correct form for Ontario (Form 36B Certificate of Divorce), confirmed it says all the right things, she said she sees it's signed in blue (so confirmed for me they actually DO have it ~ told previously they didn't have it)...



...but the "official" seal is the issue!! On mine, there is a raised seal, the paper is indented with the logo of the court house; on their example form there was a red stamp in the circle reserved for the seal..... after a little back and forth she is escalating it further to confirm that Montreal will accept this or if they want me to get something else....



So here I sit and wait..... Mari said she expects to have a response and should be able to call me back either today or tomorrow, but I should call back Friday if I don't hear/see anything come through.



She did say that Montreal is one of those embassies that wants the file completely done before they will take it ~ meaning corrections/updates go through NVC and cannot be brought to the interview (like I see some others mention....)



So, fingers crossed.... praying/chanting/whatever..... looking for tonnes of positive vibes that they accept this and give me the case complete!! This is **IT** almost done!!!!

Youngest got hers last week, I got mine today (logged on and saw the magical 3 n/a's and called to confirm)... now we're just waiting on the DS 260 to be reviewed for my oldest daughter (the 9 y/o, c'mon folks!)

As all of you know... we have been waiting for 9 months and a week. My husband sent an email to NVC follow up and he got this reply.

Good morning,

This e-mail message is in reply to your inquiry regarding the Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, that you filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on August 4, 2014.

USCIS records indicate this case is currently assigned to an officer for review. Although the case is assigned to an officer, we are unable to determine the date a final decision may be made on this case.

Does this mean we are out of the background and security checks limbo? I would appreciate any comments!!

08-03-2017 Daughter and I completed biometrics; May 2018 - I had to redo my biometrics (reason unknown)

09-20-2018 Transferred to TSC
