Ok guys. I have been rather quiet for a while just hoping, praying and waiting. Close to seven months and nothing has changed for me. Not an RFE (not that I want one), not a signal that things are moving forward. My husband sent a service request to see if we get any info - we will not by March 5 and not before.

The only highlight is that my husband came to stay with me for a week.

Good day,

Each visa applicant aged 16 years or older must submit a police certificate from each country in which the applicant has resided for one year or longer. The certificate(s) must be issued within one year of the date of the visa appointment. NOTE: An applicant must present a police certificate from his/her country of current residence and country of nationality, if residence in such country exceeds 6 months.

For specific information regarding the police certificate required for each country, please visit http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html. Some countries also require a specific Police Certificate Request form to properly request and obtain Police Certificate(s). The Reciprocity by Country page indicates those countries.

Police certificates from certain countries are unavailable.

Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to obtain any U.S. police certificates.

Canada police certificates are valid for a period of 1 year; applicants must present a valid police certificate on the day of the interview. Police certificates from other countries do not expire, unless the applicant has returned to the country in question after the issuance of the police certificate for a period of at least 6 months.

For the question regarding police certificate, I sent an email to the US embassy in Montreal and I got the reply above. I thought it will be useful to post it here as it could help someone in the future.

We are definitely looking into me visiting for a while now... I only need to take care of my financial situation and then I will make a decision on whether I keep my job or move on. It is terrible to be apart for so long and only because we are "doing things right". It has come to a point where I am actually upset at hearing in other forums things like "I have been in the country illegally for X years.. and then managed to adjust with no problems"... This is really driving me crazy.

When I can finally and legally be with my husband, I will go to law school become a fat cat (fatter lol) and make some real changes so that people that do things right can reunite with their family without all these ludicrous wait times. It's insane.

Just have an email from uscis saying that they Make actualización on the name. PD oct 21. It was a mistake on beneficiary last name, they put Florentina and It was wrong is Florentino. But no actualizacion for My other PD of August 18

Questions for everyone who's called the NVC about it their case...what did you say to the rep to get the case number and invoice number?

I'm not calling for case # yet.... I just confirmed the receipt of our cases on 2/18.... but each time I call I make sure to be very pleasant ("Hi (name), how are you doing today? I have a USCIS receipt # (give #).....) then I'd wait to see if they said it was in the system or not....

When it's time to start calling for the Case # I expect a lot of script-readers "you must wait 42 days" but my way around that will be to continue being super-pleasant and just thank them for their time checking on that for me.... and call back to get someone else if needed....

I've worked in various call-center environments for more years than I care to count, so I understand what the person on the other end is going through, and that you will reach people with different levels of competency. Yelling at them or pushing for information they don't want to give (or realistically don't have!) won't get us anywhere.

I called yesterday and had my USCIS # ready, gave em my birthdate, name and his too. I got my case number and asked nicely for my invoice number too. I also asked if i can provide them with my email, but they told me that the system wasn't letting them update anything because they recently entered my information to their system.

Well, my husband received a response to his service request on our case.

The status of this service request is:

We have placed your case on a processing hold, because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

We cannot predict when we will receive the results of these security checks. Please be assured that we will make every effort to make a decision in your case as soon as the security checks are complete.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

I could say this sucks, but then.. it doesn't. I feel I am in a better position emotionally now as AT LEAST I know where we are.

Have you known of anybody in this situation? Can you let me know if you have learned about this before and how long you have seen this take?

I know every case is different and unfortunately in this thread, I am the one stuck until some agency provides info. But I shall follow the signs and if this is not the time well.. I will only focus on working and being in a better position financially for when we make the move.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your responses I haven't called yet. I received my NOA2 on the 11th so I figured sometime this week I would start calling I just wasn't sure how to approach the situation and if there was something specific I needed to say to get my numbers!!
