Need HELP/clarification on Police Clearances...

I understand the NBI police clearance and filled it out online, she will then go to the office and finish up.

My question is...what about a foreign country clearance? Lives in Philippines but She worked for several years in Dubai.

Is this a separate clearance or covered by the NBI clearance?

yeah she needs to get police clearance for that...nbi is only for philippine jurisdiction...but theres some country who are exempted in gettin pc by the us embassy...i think UAE is part of that...

Normal yes it is required (as for link of requirement - the embassy instructions letter) :

e. OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present

police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching the

age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names,

aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of

those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State

Department’s website at

But in the case of Dubai, UAE does not issue police certificates except in person so the embassy waivers the requirement for those countries.

may be able to request Police Certificate via mail (through the Canadian UAE embassy).

Being they are dealing with the embassy in Manila what someone can do in Canada is of little importance.

The Department of State website is very clear that the police certificate can only be obtained in person, and the U.S. Embassy Manila is very clear they waiver the police certificate in that situation.
