I have an old aunt, around 90 years old, staying alone in USA. She wants to move back to her native country due to health reasons and old age. She has no dependents, as she has never been married or adopted anyone.

Would like to know if-

  • She in any way can support or sponsor my green card? or US citizenship.
  • She does not want to sell her house, rather she is wiling to offer me to stay there. Will this help in obtaining USA citizenship?
  • Or Can she adopt me? (Wont prefer this on moral grounds, but any suggestion is welcome)

Her interest is to move back to her native country, and mine is to obtain a VISA to work in in USA.

I hold masters in Retail management, have my own business. I do not have a technical or finance related education, its on the creative side.

Please give your valuable suggestions

  • She does not want to sell her house, rather she is wiling to offer me to stay there. Will this help in obtaining USA citizenship? Still No.
  • Or Can she adopt me? (Wont prefer this on moral grounds, but any suggestion is welcome). No. You are too old to be adopted for immigration purposes.

Her interest is to move back to her native country, and mine is to obtain a VISA to work in in USA. Maybe she should consider going back to India where you could take good care of her.

Please give your valuable suggestions

She could only sponsor a direct relative, so your mother/father (her sister/brother) and then they could sponsor you. However, that whole process would take decades and if the sponsoring relative dies, the petition is cancelled.
