Update on B-2 visitors visa ..... The gf had her interview this morning.... First of all I want to let everyone here at VJ know that this process was easy...It only took about a week. On the DS-160 she was very honest. On the form it asks purpose for travel....The answer given was to see bf....not to visit friend or some other bs.....And she was going to stay at bf's house....not at the easy 8 motel down the road. She was not elusive on any question, completely honest. She is 51 and her office chair fits her backside very well (17 years) at the same place.

Her first question asked by the CO caught her off guard and made her nervous.

Q. What was the purpose for travel to Algeria

A. To give economic lecture

Q. Who are you visiting in USA

A. My bf

Q. How long have you known bf

A. 13 months

Q. When are you getting married

A. We are not, he has not proposed to me yet

Co....maybe he will propose this time....APPROVED!

YES...YES...YES...

It pays to be honest!!!

The GF went to the documents center to collect her visa.

When looking at it with excitement, she had to sit for a minute. She asked for B2 for 30 days...What was issued was B1/B2 10 year multi entry visa. Our feet are still not on the ground:)) I am booking her flight now....yes!!

Congratulations man! I'm really glad for you. I'm not going to lie. I'm definitely a little jealous! My gut feeling, her age had a big play in her acceptance. I'm mailing my papers for K1 visa tomorrow! Probably going to visit Ukraine again in a couple of months.

She was a normal applicant and received a normal visa.

Are you inferring that my girlfriend is abnormal?

So there is new development with my girlfriend. She said that the Greek Embassy is willing on their behalf to add her to a list with other Greek Embassy employees asking the American Embassy to give her/them a non-immigrant tourist visa. She has already tried twice on her own and was denied. What do you think?

My questions are this:
1.) If she is denied a 3rd time, will she be blacklisted?
2.) If she is flagged, will it make filing for K1 impossible?
3.) Will it affect the K1 visa process if it isn't impossible when I send in the paperwork (planning on filing this week)
4.) Can she go through with Tourist visa application w/ Greek Embassy simultaneously can I send in the K1 visa app?

Greeks can use the VWP. But no downside I can see.

Do they have the authority to do that for a non-Greek citizen? If so, how likely is it that adding her to the list will help - the embassy may have some figures of how many of the employees have actually been granted visitor visas after being put on the list. Either way, I don't think being denied for non-immigrant tourist visas will affect the K1 application as they are for different purposes. With the visitor visa, they're trying to make sure people don't decide to immigrate illegally with it, while the K1's purpose is immigration so I don't think the two conflict with one another. I could be wrong, but that's my instinct. Will you be going through with the K1 regardless of whether she'll be able to get the visitor visa?

It's worth a try then if you don't mind the fee. Good luck.
