Need advice on when to send the K-1 package in

My fiancé and I are finally ready to send everything in. However, due to me being in school for another year, I can't leave Sweden until middle of May next year. When should we send it in? If we got our NOA2 very quickly, would I be able to freely schedule my interview at the embassy whenever I wanted to, so I could make sure it is within the 6 month time span of me leaving in May (at the earliest?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Way to make me feel a lot better haha! What do you mean by NOA2 could be extended? I'm just worrying that I'll miss the 6 month deadline due to my graduation in May. We plan on filing early September.

Thanks for your reply!!

Petition approvals have a 4 month expiration, but the consulate can extend the validity. If you need to postpone the interview, you can explain to the consulate and ask them to extend the expiration of the petition approval.

It can take 2 to 3 months or 5+ months for the I-129F petition to be approved. After that, it goes through the NVC and onto the consulate. Scheduling the medical and interview can take a couple months. It depends on the consulate. Then the visa will typically have an expiration of 6 months from the medical in order to use it to enter the US. I think you should be ok to get started and file the petition in Sept.
