Hello.

My husband and I are booking a cruise for the end of October. My EAD/AP combo card is due to arrive mid-September and I was wondering what name I need to put down for the cruise? Its a short one, with a visit to the Bahamas, so do I book it under my passport name, which is my maiden name, or book it under my married name, which will be on my AP card??

I can bring with me a driver's license (when I get it next month) which will be in my married name, I can bring my marriage certificate to show I've legally changed my name but I'm just very confused which documents they will be looking at, and which name they will be expecting to see?

Thanks for any help in advance!

the generally-accepted answer is - PASSPORT NAME.

then when you show your AP card to get back into the USA, please show the passport, AP card, marriage certificate (showing all names) .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Enjoy your vacation and good luck with the rest of your AOS journey.

For international travel you use the official government issued document that your country gives to all citizens that want to travel to other countries--the PASSPORT. So the name you use MUST match the name in that official government issued document used for travel. So if you need to use your passport then the name on the ticket must be in the same as the name in your passport. If you can use a DL or the GC or AP/EAD than the ticket needs to be in the name of the ID you are using--this is for domestic travel as you can use all kinds of IDs to get thru the TSA.

If the country you are visiting allows you to use your GC or AP/EAD card instead of your passport then you can have the tickets in that name. All the GC or AP/EAD combo card does is allow your to re-enter the US without a visa or using the VWP as you are a (or soon to be) LPR. I know this in not an issue for someone holding a UK passport, but you also need to get the proper travel visas based on your home country's passport and the country of intended travel. The only thing the GC does, usually, is make it easier for someone to get a visa compared to other citizens of the same country.

Have a good cruise,

Dave
