has anyone ever had any positive results out of a service request? i did four of them until I was told they are usless beyond the point when they are transferred to the local office (I have no idea if this applies to CSC as the officer I spoke to did not acknowledge anything as to processing in CSC). I see so many posts about this and have to wonder, has anyone seen any result?

I'm interested in this too as I called the USCIS on December 19th and the customer service rep said she'd send out a service request. According to her I should hear something within 45 days, so far I've heard nothing. I don't even know what the request does, she just put me on hold and then came back to me saying she filled in a request and gave me a reference number. Hopefully someone on VJ has seen something good come from the service request, but I'm not sure it does anything at all.

what i was told by the officer is that the customer service reps run through the list of questions and send the service request onto MSC/NBC and there it sits. Once your fiel goes to the local office, then there is a disconnect. While I can understand what she is getting at, then why does the service request begin with the letters of your local office? um, it is THAT difficult to figure out where it needs to be forwarded on to? i guess i should call again and try to speak to an officer (vs customer service rep)

I would contact your congressional liason for immigrations. They seem to get answers very quickly, at least in Louisiana.

i am not really trying to get any answers on my case, i know what the problem is. My question has to do with service requests after transfer to local offices and if they do any good. From what I can see so far, no one gets any kind of response, therefore useless.

Frankly they are all useless. I tried to speak to an officer and he had no clue and felt bad for us. We have two pending requests.

Good luck and do try the congressional liason route!

I did 2 service requestsin Aug 2005 after my case had gone to the local office.... that was before i knew about infopass..... I heard nothing back... until this Jan when I got a letter from USCIS say that this was the reply to my service request and explaining to me that my case was at my local office and I would hear from them with regard to a desission.... the fact that I have been a greencard holder since Nov 9th 2005 it only took them over a year and a half to reply....

So dont hold your breath...

ok I did receive ONE reply to my several service requests today - citing the request I made on 10/30/06, written on 3/1/07 from the local office.

The status if this service request is:

The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required investigation into your background remains open.

Until the background investigation is completed, we cannot move forward on your case. These background checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make ever effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the background checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact us by making an INFOPASS appt at the Tampa Office.

I think the point is to do as much as you can, regardless of how futile it seems to be able to prove that the system is in need a change.

In other words, no one can say, " well you never put in a service request" so what do you expect.

thanks Kez... i think we are *stabilizing* now... while it would be quite nice to get the GC in hand ... as long as we don't go another year like this i think we can keep our sanity, although some days are worse than others, and there are so many others who have waited longer than me.

sigh...you'd think there would be a better more efficient system of doing namechecks that don't take THIS freakin long! If we don't hear something by March 15 we'll be reapplying for Joel's EAD. :(

I guess we should be glad he can work, eh?
