They have to respond to your petition. They don't have to address the issue. Two very different things.

Sorry, I mean start to try to address lol~~~at least this could be the first step don't you think?

White House petitions about the various visa delays pop up all the time and die as quickly as they're born. Outside of our circle no one knows or cares what an I-130 is. Even if it got the 100,000 signatures, the White House would issue a statement along the lines of "we will continue to work diligently with the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State to makre sure that every immigrant wishing to pursue the American Dream can do so, all while protecting the safety of our nation."

They won't make DHS or DOS do anything. Letter writing campaigns and media attention is how to get things done.

Another curiosity question, why is FEMA on this list?

One last critique about the letter; there a lot of bold claims made throughout this letter, but zero evidence to back up these claims. I think it would be in your best interests to include facts and data to back up these statements, otherwise it's subject to not get taken seriously.

I agree with everything you have said. The real value in this letter writing is that fact that the authors feel something will be attained by the effort. In reality only contacting the people that vote on the issue will accomplish anything at all. Of course those are the very same people that left on another vacation without any change in their attention to this matter and that have ignored the issue for years.

The issue of immigration reform has escaped action for decades simply because its not important to most Americans.

That sounds really sad though. I remember once the H1B holders signed up and petitioned their spouses' eligibility to work and they got some light already.

So did anyone really try this already and proved that it did not work?

Hey gusy, why don't we make this a petition at the white house website and ask more people to sign it! And if it exceeds certain number of signatures the gov has to address this issue!!!

And make it more of a issue regarding Legal immigrants are not treated equally as illegal ones!

http://www.change.org/petitions/president-obama-uscis-dhs-decrease-wait-time-for-i-130-petition-for-alien-relative if anyone is interested. there are currently almost 3000 signatures and in need of 2000 more to be sent

please support this petition

Guys seriously stop wasting yours and everyone's time by creating and promoting these petitions. It's impossible to get 100k signs with small minority of people going through this process. Even if you do reach 100k signs, you will get nothing but a canned response from some staff member.

Its not only USCIS and NVC, its consulates also.

All these processes are paid for by applicant fees. Are people willing to increase fees to add more staff IF that money is used to lower processing times? For me the answer is yes.

Its a election year. Now is the time to make noise.

How exactly do you plan to make this noise? Keep in mind the election is far away and none of the potential candidates has said one word about the subject of immigration reform. They cant even agree how to stop the flood of people at the gates now or what to do with those that entered illegally. Thousands are being housed right now with no apparent answer of what to do or when to do it so I am not sure what makes you think more noise will trigger action by anyone in a position to change the current situation.

Funny thing about all of this is I emailed cnn last night and begged them to shed some light on the wait time for families...although it was not as elegantly worded as this letter posted here...I will be glad to help in this endeavor. I'm calling my congressman office tomorrow as well.

It's the same for us K1 filers. I'm glad I didn't marry in her country, which I almost did, the wait time has always been longer for i130 filers, unfairly so!

You are talking about 2 completely different visas. K1 will always and forever be quicker than a CR1, no matter how fast USCIS works through them. Just for the simple fact the CR1/IR1 visas include the Affidavit of Support at NVC whereas K1 doesn’t deal with it till they adjust status.

Its been 579 days since i have seen my husband in person.

It has been 41 WORKING Days since the American Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia has had THEIR request for a "joint sponsorship" papers signed by our joint sponsor in THEIR HANDS FOR REVIEW.

I made $2093.00 US dollars less then the "poverty level" to sponsor my husband myself, so they asked for a joint sponsor. Why do they ask for assets then to make up the difference. What a joke. They work for US!!! We pay their wages. They did not even look at the equity that we have in our home, yet alone our vehicle. I MADE ENOUGH WITH OUR ASSETS TO SPONSOR MY OWN HUSBAND...they did not even give it one thought, since its "up to them" whether or not we are worthy. Are you kidding me? Pffff on you all...YOU SHOULD BE sued for "LOSS OF CONSORTIUM"...YOU ARE KEEPING MY HUSBAND FROM ME...we did ALL THAT THEY WANTED. Now it just seems like they are LOOKING for a reason to deny us, but THERE ISN'T ANY!!! ..... We are good people who have no police records. When you call for answers or email them they do not even have the common curtsey to reply....everyone just passes the buck.

No more patience from me. So i will do what you suggest in your post as i feel they are stealing MY time now.

You are just plain wrong for what you do to us. How dare you. :clock:

Great letter from the original poster. Going to send out immediately to media, congress. I'm awake anyway :D

I know people have already asked why TSA is included in the list. My question is why FEMA?

Obviously with this list so old, some of the email addresses won't work (reporters move around) but the show email addresses mostly should still work:

http://www.labnol.org/internet/email/email-address-of-journalists-news-editors-tv-anchors-web-reporters/1352/

I think the most important thing is to get it out early this week to whoever needs to see it, especially with the 60 day email that people got on Friday.

What 60 day email on Friday? I didn't get an email.
