Here's an article from the Washington Post that may be of interest...and should raise the hackles on the backs of anyone pursuing legal immigration...

They are undocumented Democrats.....That is all that matters

Not that I like him using his executive powers willy nilly, but what choice does he have? The house will pass the immigration bill, the senate might or might not, but Obama already decided he will veto it, so it comes down to him doing what he wants anyway. Meanwhile, I am on my last stretch of monetary installments to get my wife here legally. Frustrating, both in terms of time and money.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out...

From the article:

Calling the House measure “extreme and unworkable,” Obama signaled in a news conference that he believes Congress has opened the door for him to act.

“House Republicans suggested that since they don’t expect to pass a bill I can sign, that I should go ahead and act on my own to solve the problem,” Obama said.

He's clearly lost touch with reality if he thinks Congress has somehow encouraged him to abuse his authority. :ranting:

The Senate won't even consider the House Bill. Dingy Harry will never let it see the light of day as it stands.

From the article in the OP:

Some Senate Democrats running for reelection in traditionally conservative states, such as Arkansas and Louisiana, have expressed misgivings about Obama going too far on his immigration order, fearing it will not play well among voters in their states.

Those democrats are looking at things short term.

Short term is what they are worried about. November. November November

The Senate candidates might be worried about November, but it's pretty clear the white house isn't.

I htink most all sides agree, that any kind of legal status without first stopping the flow, is a very wrong move. The dems are set to lose the senate. This will make it worse. It's insane

How can Obama change Federal law by executive action ?

I am sure the deniers will tell us how, and it will be related to something Reagan or Bush did .

Just like gun control, let's make more laws when we don't enforce the ones already in place. That always works well. Washington is like the UN, why have laws and rules when we just disregard the ones that don't fit our agenda? Wrong is wrong, whether it be Democrats or Republicans, regardless of what the nitwits on either side seem to think.

The bill was a stillborn from the moment they added the DREAMers to an equation they don't belong. It was meant to give the illusion the House was doing something useful for a change, and to give Congress an out for their impending recess. On a positive note, yay! our politicians are working hard at it!

While it may be a waste of time to send it to the Senate where it wont pass, it would be good to get each Senators vote on the bill as a matter of record. Come November people might like to have that information when entering the voting booth. Especially when it's pretty clear by poll numbers that a large majority of voters are against this policy.

Here's my plan. Vote for me. I'm going to post it in every thread about illegal immigration, Obama, etc, etc. Maybe 100 times or so per week.

Secure the border, stop the flood, fix the system for people immigrating legally, THEN figure out a system to give LPR status to those already here illegally. No citizenship or voting rights. Set a date for policy to take effect, and any children born AFTER this date will be US citizens and have voting rights. That takes care of the problem of one party gaining new members as there will be no new voters for 18 years.

This must be done to stop a rush of illegals trying to get here to beat the buzzer.
