you can retire from the military after 20 years active duty....i retired at 38 years old. i'm 45 now. been out for just over 6 years,

Not to further highjack the thread but....

Do you feel you're alot different as a person than if you had only stayed in a few years? Do you feel there were benefits to staying in that long, aside from monetarily?

And uh... do you feel old?

only benefit to having stayed longer would have been 2.5% more retirement pay per year, whoopie. if i'd not retired when i did i'd had been transferred and then not been able to retire anyways due to 9-11. probably still be in the military actually as they have not been letting too many people out since then.

all of the benefits remain the same from 20-30 years, just the pay is a bit more.

i don't feel old at all btw
