My husband got to US in 2013, 2nd half of the year. His tax return definitely was less than what is required for household of 2. He'll be filing again in 2014 and he'll meet the required amount.

My question is how do we go about the tax since what is required from NVC is tax return for 3 yrs. Can 2013 and 2014 be enough to scale through at the NVC stage or do we need a joint sponsor.

If a joint sponsor is needed can it be a friend.

@dwheels, ur contribution is highly needed

What I did was get an employers letter from HR department stating how much is my base salary with Jan' 14 to Current Time pay stubs. :)

And I got a joint sponsor which is my best friends dad.

Its not about his taxes its about his gross income. Did he make above the guidelines?

And what do you mean he will be filing in 2014? You have to have 2013 done. That is required was due April 14th. Unless he has an extension letter from IRS.

There is no 2014 taxes. What is due now to NVC is 2013, 2012, 2011. If he hasn't filed he has to write why he didn't.

If you didn't meet the guidelines than yes you need a joint sponsor. Joint sponsor can be any one on earth who is a citizen or LPR and lives in the US. Doesn't have to be anyone you even know.

Thanks for the reply.

1. Yeah, about his gross income, my husband told me that as of July he has made over the required income for house hold of two.

2.He did his tax for 2013 but his income was low because he started working officially in September 2013. I know there is no 2014 tax bow. What I mean by filing his tax is same as doing tax for 2014 in Dec.

Based on CSC processing time, NOA2 should arrive before January 2015 when his tax return transcript will be ready.

Okay well Lagos is picky and they like to see current and previous year above. But since he makes now well above and has been employed since September last year he may be okay. All he can do is submit and hope the CO accepts when that time comes.

Oh wow you are months away from even submitting this information. You will have no issue then.

Because lest say you got approved by end of year you will still have months at NVC by then 2014 taxe returns will be due so he will now have previous year above and current year above.

Here I thought you were talking right now. You have plenty of time. No wahala mame no wahala. :goofy:

FYI taxes are done usually January through April So that will be his 2014 returns. So for NVC stage he will be submitting 2014, 2013, 2012.

Thanks dearie! The issue now is that my hubby will be submitting 2014 and 2013 cos there is no income for 2012. As at 2012 he was still in Nigeria.

Since he will be submitting 2014 and 2013 transcript, is a joint-sponsor still needed.

My priority date is July 14.
