I received a change of address notification and don't know why.

I received my NOA 1 on July 10, 2014. Today I received a notice from the USCIS that my address had been changed. I did not move or request a change of address. What does this mean and what should I do?

This is what the notice said:

On August 2, 2014, your address was changed relating to the I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN that you filed. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case.

Gosh, what a comical organization. :-)

Why couldn't they simply include..

1. What request or event caused the change

2. What was the address before

3. What is the new address now in the system

4. And finally, what actions they expect from you, if any

If you received the letter, then at least you can assume with (some) assurance

that the updated (?) address is correct, but you may want to check with them.

If a public company like Amazon, EBay, etc. ran a business in the manner as

some parts of our immigration process in terms of slow speed,

confusing communication/instructions, slow and inconsistent notifications,

lack of transparency in processing via web pages, etc.,

they would be out of business a long time ago.

But in this case, it's like a monopoly and we are stuck without a choice. :-(

Good luck. Hopefully, all is OK.

Assume nothing other than that right now they have an erroneous change of address for you and you need to make sure that they have your CORRECT address. All they do is confirm information that they've received. Somehow, either someone used your case number when applying for a change of address or the person at USCIS entered in the wrong number. Could be that the person changing address has a case # very similar to yours. Nonetheless - you need to find out what they have and have it corrected immediately.

Hi there! I received one too. I immediately called the Customer Service line and the person that was trying to help me was not able to give me an answer so he transfered me to someone else. Even though the wait time was 45 minutes long, the system gives you the option to get a call back without losing your place in line, I chose that option and they did call me 38 minutes later. The USCIS rep. asked me a few questions and then toll me that there was no change to my address and that it may have been a glitch in the system. I would advise you to call them and get it clarified. Good Luck!

Thanks to all of you for the advice. I will call the USICS on Monday when they open. I was just wondering if this is something that happens often?

I called the USCIS today and they said that there was a glitch in their computer system and that my address had not changed. I asked, since I had them on the phone already, how long it would be for approval. the woman said 4 to 5 more months. I was sad, but to my surprise 3 hours later we got approved and received our NOA-2 after just 25 days :)
