OMG!! How frustrating this is and you must be. My heart goes out to you guys. If it takes me 8 months to do a task that normally only takes 1-2 months, I'd probably be fired! I am just thinking out loud now, but why can't they give you an idea of what in the background is holding up the process. Was there a criminal history?

Nope, no criminal history at all. My records are absolutely pristine. That's why I know it shouldn't be taking this long.

Still waiting! Just wanted to check in with everyone. I filed a request with my Senator and also reached out to my HR department who sent some files to our company's lawyers to see what they think...just wanted to share the reply:

Thank you for providing the materials relating to RelativeWays. I see that she entered the U.S. using a K-1 fiancée visa.

Please note that the K-1 program is unfortunately a very low priority of the U.S. government. In my 30 years’ experience in this field, I have rarely seen the government keep to its stated processing times in the K-1 area. Typically the process takes far longer than estimated.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. Given that RelativeWays has a “combo card,” she has the ability to travel internationally and to work in the U.S. So she really has no recourse here. If the USCIS had failed to grant these benefits, she would have the ability to insist on the adjudication of the EAD card and the Advance Parole travel permission (which is what she has in the “combo card”). But if RelativeWays is merely looking to accelerate the issuance of her green card, I’m afraid she has no recourse but to wait.

Looks like I'm almost due to renew my combo card - has anyone here renewed theirs yet?

Ugh. what #######. :(

We won't be applying for a renewal for Johan's EAD/AP card until mid-July. Even though you and I have the same NOA1 date, his combo card wasn't approved for more than a month and a half after yours! Goes to show just how *not* in order they go with approvals. Check out the NIPW thread if you haven't already. LOTS of people there have reapplied for their combo cards. It's a ridiculous mess for those of us who don't get the privilege of an interview. At the same time, what your response says is pretty much true. We do have the ability to work and travel in and out of the USA, so only a few of us actually *NEED* the green card asap. Johan isn't one of them. It's just annoying for us.

I randomly tried putting in a service request and lo and behold, it got accepted and I was able to make one. Hopefully something good comes out of it. Hope we all get good news soon. I checked the processing times of Raleigh and its already on Sept. 25, 2014 so I'm curious what they're doing with my petition now :D

There's a couple in the NIPW thread who filed AOS in January, 2014, and just got an RFE for expired medical. Same with a couple who filed in March, 2014. But then there are also plenty who just get approved with no RFE. So it's luck of the draw, I suppose. For what it's worth, I too will be quite unhappy if the green card is stalled do to an RFE caused by their lack of efficiency.

Edited to add YEARS to the dates. :(

Yeah, the service request was a waste of time.. I just got the same generic bul* butter answer.

"What We Have Done

USCIS has reviewed your Service Request. According to USCIS records, we are unable to move forward with your application until the required background checks have been completed. At this time, we are unable to determine when the adjudication of your case will be completed and no further action is required from you. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by delays in processing."

They said that they never got the ones I completed before even though the picture on my EAD is from that appt. I asked if this will delay my application any more and they said no.. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I haven't had to renew my EAD yet, I'm due to do it early July.

So you have to do biometrics two more times or just do it again when you renew? lol
