Hey Ben7336. I am in the same boat as you. My application was recieved in August 2014 and I am in interviewing and scheduling since September. Almost 5 months now I sent an e-request and it said the offices have a lot of backlog it could take a few more months. What do you fellow VJs recommend? Is going to the congressperson or making and infopass appointment helpul? Really appreciate any response thanks.

Yea, more than 90% of all offices nationwide have a very terrible backlog and there's nothing you can do but just wait unless you have a valid reason for an expedite like being a military spouse. I did all I could submitted 2 e requests, also made 1 info pass but all I was told is they're behind. I filed on August 14th and just got an interview date but today morning for March 4th ( 5 months 14 days since filing). You guys should probably be getting dates in February for March interviews. Check your USCIS local office processing times to get an idea. As of November 30th, my local office in Seattle last touched a case dated June 30th. Based on that I knew I'd be getting an interview notice in January based on the calculations.

Thanks. I sent an e-reuqest on December. They sent a mail and it said that my case was now outside the normal processing time and I would be expected to get another response in 6 months. I also visted the local infopass but it proved to be useless. I think what I could do now be nothing but waiting.

Your local office in Honolulu on November 30th last treated a case filed as of July 10th. Your interview notice should come early February based on that timeline you're almost there.

Thanks for the response. Makes me feel like I am not the only one "in hell of a wait". My office is still processing cases from April 2014. Hopefully I get an interview in the next couple of months since I want to travel in the summer. Goodluck to everyone who have recieved their interview letters and to those in line for one. Lets keep this thread active so we can figure out the pace our cases are moving at. Good day.

Damn I heard Texas had a heavy backlog but didn't know it was that hell of crazy. February 25th for real? Wow, most offices I know hang around May and June. This is just not right, considering all the fees USCIS receives.

Ben, so have I filed august 1st and they received my packet august 5th. This is so frustrating. I called USCIS, they told me, and I verified, that they are processing May 12th 2014. They are 9 months behind. You have to calculate your time by your local service center. I checked for Atlanta. This is ridiculous. They are processing but so many I-485's. I got my local congressman involved. His office has help me expedite so many difficult situations.

@Maryness don't despair it appears your summer travel plans should work great since you'll have an interview months before summer. As of November 30th your local office in New York City, NY last treated a case filed on May 6th NOT April as you thought. This means they're working on July cases as of this month in January. Since interview notices are normally sent 1 month in advance, it's very likely you'll be getting probably late next month for a March interview or very early April interview.

You can travel with your EAD/AP card, if you applied for one. It's what AP is for: traveling before you get your actual green card. If you never applied for that, you still can, and it's free with proof of pending AOS application (A copy of your NOA1). Good luck!

No news for my AOS either... This is getting frustrating. Not sure what the processing time for Nebraska SVC Center is now. Anyone have an idea?
