Congrats @laptopnyc - we are preparing/over preparing for our interview later this week. Too bad the officer didn't get to enjoy your couple's album ;) Perhaps I should leave mine at home.

Again, happy for y'all!

Went to the interview on Friday, Dec 12th on Long Island City immigration office in NYC.

Scheduled for 1PM. Went in at 12.55pm, and getting called in around 1.45pm. Finish around 2.10

Went in with my wife, and the officer asked me right away, "Are you come with a lawyer", I said "nope". He replied back "Are you that confident", and I replied "Yes"

And then he go on asking me why am I sending A LOT OF paper. I mean, my paper stacked in front of us, i can see it is at least 4 inch deep tall. I said, i am using a 32lb paper, it is a thicker paper than a regular 23lb paper. ANd he replied, "well, it is still too much, WHy are you sending this much?" I said to him, "I got an RFE for 1-864, and I send some more evidences".

Then he looked on the paper, and see that i submitted 12 months bank statement. He said "oh yeah that's why it is a lot"

It makes me nervous. We stood up and sworn.

He told us only to answer his question to whom he asked the question to.

And then he started to ask me some basic information such as my wife date of birth, what is she love doing, her favourite food, etc. My wife sat beside me.

After that he started to ask my wife, where do i work, how many siblings do i have, my parents name, my date of birth.

And he ask me again how do i first met my wife.

He said, "Do you want to submit anything before I submit it?", and I said, "Yes, i have some pictures"

I showed him a stack of pictures, maybe about 50 pictures, and he said "Oh, no, no, i am good"

I was feeling a little bit dissappointed that he didnt look at my pictures, because i spend few hours printed out the pictures.

My wife and I had a long distance relationship for the first 6 months, and we sent each other a love letter/postcards. We kept all of the letters/postcards, and we brought all of them on that day.

I made a love album, and kept my first bus receipt (where I took 12 hours long journey from NYC to virginia to met my wife for the very first time). I brought that album too on that day.

The officer didnt need anything else.

Well, it is better to over prepare than a less prepare.

After that, he said that i will be getting my green card in 30 days. It will be a permanent green card, since I am already married for 5 years.

Congrats! Definitely better to be over prepared.

You probably did call them already. Maybe you can try calling them again, infopass, something... wishing for movement for your case!

You are too nice. I dont want to force you to call but if that is my case, I would have called by now. For my OPT-EAD before (i had to appy two EADs after I graduated), and for both, I always call after 2 months I appled (and you should wait 3 months). Depending on who you talk to, they will try to help you especially if you just express concern and dont sound like you are being demanding. I guess i am not as patient... :)

It's not patience at all. I think I just REALLY hate calling them. It never yields anything good.. and I always get frustrated at how little they know.
