I filed for my Jamaican fiancé in November 2013. Received the receipt in beginning of December. Never heard anything else. I contacted immigration in May an over time was filed. I have kept calling after that and just keep being told that our background Checks are pending. It's been pending for months. There's been no email updates or anything. I just feel our case is sitting in a file somewhere completely forgotten about. My fiancé and I are beyond frustrated. Neither of us have the money right now for a visit and it's been a year since we have seen each other. Is this abnormal what can I do to motivate immigration at my wits end!

April 24, 2014 - NOA1 received via email/text

April 25, 2014 - Alien Registration Number changed

April 28, 2014 - NOA1 received in mail.

May 23, 2014 - RFE received in mail.

June 5, 2014 - Response to RFE Sent

June 11, 2014 - NOA2 Approval via website!!!

June 14, 2014 - NOA2 received in mail.

June 24, 2014 - NVC Case # via phone!

June 25, 2014 - NVC forwarded case to Embassy

June 26, 2014 - Embassy received case.

June 26, 2014 - NVC letter in mail.

You filed for an E 1 treaty visa? I think you mean K 1.

If all you ever got was a NOA 1 then there is certainly something wrong. We need to know if you filed the correct petition for a K 1 visa.

Whatever the case is you need to make an Info Pass appointment to go see USCIS in person. Do that on the USCIS web site.

Prepare for a long wait no matter what the circumstances are because Jamaica is one of the high fraud countries.

What is an NOA?

Read to the left of your own post where it says " filed for ".

Once the initial petition is filed a NOA ( notice of acceptance ) is sent to acknowledge receipt of the petition.

What is an NOA?

You need to fill out timeline to avoid confusion.

Your profile says E-1 visa.

Look to the left again. Near the bottom it says timeline. Click on that and you will see. You really need to spend time educating yourself about all of this to improve your ability to understand what you want need to know.

Could things go faster if I just went there and married him there what happens with the paper work already filed

I would not recommend that route unless you and your fiance are ready to take that next step and be Husband/Wife. Being a fiance (as of right now) gives both of you guys time to plan the wedding out and really get to know your partner. It should be a thrilling time and excitement should begin to creep up whenever you have a planned Wedding Date.

Back to the question. Stick to the K-1. You will be a lot closer than if you were to start the Visa process after marriage.
