That's assuming citizens are allowed to find out. Current White House policy is to keep all this a deep dark secret, under subterfuge that "illegals' 'right to privacy' trumps citizens' 'right to information'. You can't make this stuff up.

Just like they pulled with the Patriot Act.

If Alaskans find offense to this move, it'll most likely be dealt with.

Lots of things can happen in Alaska.

Hardly anyone will ever know, unless they are "sponsoring" the immigrants. As the largest state in the US, Alaska is ranked #47 in population.

Not as many alligators in AK as in FL, but people have a way of simply disappearing up there. Just ask Robert Hansen...

Just like they pulled with the Patriot Act.

Why yes; that was passed by both houses of Congress in total secrecy. (...not; an extensive legislative history can be read at the embedded link; unlike the preznit's "Invasion Decree" which was apparently accomplished only via "pen & phone").

What're you smoking, turtle?

So you're a hypocrite? What a surprise.

And we all looked the other way...

...but, that was then and this is now, and one can always count on an op-ed or blog from whence to glean an opinion...

But I'm sure Uncle Gary has no problems with anyone except the Democrats. Remember, the Republican Party is perfect and puts the people first.

No, no - they aren't unescorted.

Each one of them is shackled to a Catholic Priest. The feds felt it was best to keep that on the low down.

I figured you were doing your part and were planning to adopt one... :reading:

Why would they do this? As the article says, the flight to Alaska is twice as long as the flight back to their home countries. And regardless of whether or not the gubmint has found these illegals appropriate sponsors in Alaska, suffice it to say these kids belong with their own parents.

Unless Castro wants them back. Then they will drag them out of a closet at gun point and ship them back

[...] a flight from McAllen to El Salvador takes just over five hours [...]

Not sure how this was derived or what aircraft might be involved, but nonstop commercial passenger flights from Houston (north of McAllen) to Ecuador (south of El Salvador) have typically been listed at around 5 hours 20 minutes and, in my experience, have usually been a bit shorter than that.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We should treat all the illegals in the same manner that mexico is giving to our US Marine who accidentally crossed their boarder...

what? that's inhumane.?? so why doesn't Obama at least talk to the Mexican President to try to secure his freedom.?
