I would say not to waste your time writing to Obama...he's a lame duck prez and could care less. Better to write to Congressmen and Senators. Yes, it's nice to release emotions through sarcasm...but, as others have said, it will fall on deaf ears. I have written to 30 Congressmen and Senators. My Congressmen has been helping us with my wife's immigration...Van Hollen in MD. His office has been very helpful...and, he's a Democrat. But, his voting record on immigration is more conservative than many of his fellow members. Anyway...I agree that this process is "painful" and that Obama's actions were deplorable!

Fixing immigration is not going to be an easy task. We want the system to be streamlined, more efficient, etc. Yet, considering what is involved in the process...and all of the agencies involved...it will be difficult. Not having a president muddling with immigration affairs - with programs like DACA - would be very helpful. The flood of illegals to this country is mind-boggling. What the senate and Prez O propose to do about it is unacceptable.

All of us here have taken this issue to heart as we are directly affected. Unfortunately, many American citizens are clueless and could care less about our own journeys. If everyone on VJ wrote a letter to their congressmen, senators and committees that deal with immigration issues...perhaps Congress would then take up the issue in earnest.

Anyway...we can't allow the actions/inaction of others to negatively impact our relationships. It's important to remain focused on constantly building our relationships in a positive and loving way. Don't allow some outsider you don't even know destroy your life.

Best to all!

As someone who is a strong believer in the Chain of Command, it would not be appropriate to write the President. You need to take your situation up your Chain and have it passed on.

Majority of the USA doesn't give two hoots about the immigration journey. Most just assume that because you're married, the spouse moves here and is a US citizen as well. I cannot tell you how many times people think I'm a US citizen even though I say I just have a green card. They don't understand what that even means.

If writing the letter makes you feel better, do it, but don't expect anything to change.

DACA should have been implemented, but it should not have been given priority over all other visa types. JMO.

This is 100% correct. Most Americans have no real interest in what they think doesn't affect them. The level of apathy in the USA is incredible and I think directly related to the situation in politics where nothing gets done unless it involves special interest groups that give huge amounts of money to get what they want. To me this is simply corruption American style. In Asia we suffer from terrible corruption and everyone knows its there. Here we vote to keep it in office while paying them to be there to accept it.

Immigration needs to be fixed, but blaming your wait times on Obama is just silly. Honestly, he probably doesn't even know the immigration process like most people in government or USA in General. Run for office, fix things. Don't try to make the most unproductive congress in history even more awful by cockblocking the president.

Good wishes for the rest of the process!

Letters have already been written to representatives, those in charge at USCIS and god knows how many other people lower down the chain since the I-130 delays began. Some VJ members even got the NY Times to write about the backlog, if it makes the OP feel better to write to the president directly then why not.

You're right on the first point.

On the 2nd point...I disagree...based on personal experience...

On the third point...I agree on the 2nd part of your statement...on the first...not without Congressional approval! Obama acted unilaterally - completely not his right to do that...making and changing laws is strictly under the Legislative Branch (Congress and the Senate), per our Constitution. Obama circumvented it...not even with an EO but rather a "Directive" to then Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. It was a very sneaky move on his part.

What a bunch of nonsense. Seriously, blaming Obama for this is silly and childish.

You really need to get up to date things. In fact, Obama's DACA directive, issued by him to Janet Napolitano (then Secretary of Homeland Security)...in essence, to EXPEDITE illegal immigrant "youth" - to stop potential deportation...and then gave them work permits. He did that at the expense of American citizens petitioning for spouses and family. His actions directly impacted thousands of petitioners and their loved ones. Perhaps you've been hiding under a rock?

You are so wrong about that. Obama's DACA program directly affected thousands of CR/IR/K1 visa petitions for nearly two years! Congress has every right to "cockblock" this out-of-control egomaniac!

You know how many letters "Obama" probably gets like this? It will end up in the trash. This issue is not a concern of the average U.S citizen therefore they could give a damn about us. By the time anything is changed most of us will be with our spouse. Do you honestly care about anyone else that will still be waiting once your fiances visa is issued? That's the problem, once the journey is over no one cares about those who are still waiting. That;s why nothing has changed. And to those who think it's Obama's fault all I gotta say is I didn't vote for him but I bet you did...twice.

Immigration has always been a problem way before Obama & Daca. Sure we would always like to put the blame on someone, but to put it on one person is not right. I brought my father to the United States more than 15 years ago way before Obama and way before Daca and I can assure you the wait has ALWAYS been a long process. All we can hope for is that we will be approve and be with our love ones.

My soon to be sister-in-law got married back in February 2013 to a U. S. Citizen. She's an Indian national STILL living in India. She and her husband will celebrate their 18 month anniversary on the 23rd. The process on the U. S. side is slow as it is and even slower in India. Looking at their situation, my fiance (her brother), and I decided to go K-1 Visa route and now our petition is stuck in Texas Service Center ?

I explained him the diferents way to go to usa, but he didnt undestand.

We started the k1 process, and he still thinks that when we get marry I am going to be american citizen.

I explain him how it is the process but he doesnt understand.

American citizen dont know nothing about the immigation process and all the wrong thing that tgey do.
