So I am going to travel to Jamaica to bring my step daughter home. Her father is here in the US but can't go with, work is keeping home bacl here. What will I need to bring her into the country other than her visa and the papers from the embassy?

Will I need letters of consent from both or either parent. I am the one who filed of course but I don't want to get stivk at thr border.

Any advice would be helpful. ..

Hi,

You should find out with the Jamaican embassy or consulate. Every country has different requirements for exiting with minors. The fact that the child has a visa doesn't imply consent by the other parent.

Some countries may let you leave fine with just a letter, but others are more strict. In my country, for example, a child needs a special consent form that HAS to be obtained from the local government, a letter will not do.

Therefore, in order to avoid undue duress, contact the appropriate Jamaican authority about the exiting of minor from the country. If they require a consent form, or if they allow you to use a letter, it most likely would have to be signed by both parents. Good luck!
