Which way did you mail your RFE response?

We received an RFE for 765 and 131, both for certified copy of our marriage certificates (which we already sent). Both letters say to send them to the same place, when we respond.

Do we send seperate letters, both with the same evidence, or can we send them all in one envelope?

How did you guys send your response? Regular mail, or express?

Thanks,

Lee and Mariana

Am I understanding this correctly? Did you send a certified copy of your marriage certificate with your I-485, but you also need to send them with the EAD and AP applications? So THREE in the AOS package, total?

You are correct, that is what is being asked of me. Which was already done (sort of) to begin with. I sent the original with the 1-485, and a copy (but not certified) of the original with the EAD and AP, which of course is all in the same package. Got an RFE to send 2 more certified copies for the EAD and AP.

Hmm,

We only sent a copy of the marriage certificate with the I-485 and did not get an RFE for not sending one with the EAD.

Copies.
Unless specifically required that an original
document be filed with an application or petition, a legible
photocopy may be submitted. Original documents submitted
when not required may remain a part of the record and will not
be automatically returned to you
So, I guess it is up to the person reviewing the document's that you need a certified copy.

Yes, I thought I was abundantly safe, but I guessed wrong...

another $21 dollars for certified copies, and then shipping. Still trying to figure out if it really matters which way I mail it, regular mail or express.

Yes, some people got RFE because did not send a certified marriage certificate. I sent the certified one but only for I-485.

Just for my own clarity, does this mean 1 x original certified copy is acceptable for the AOS, EAD, and AP being sent together? (preparing for myself!)

05-18-2022: Filed N-400 online. Received online NOA and Biometrics re-use.

06-03-2022: Interview scheduled (online notice).

06-10-2022: Interview letter received via USPS.

Yes, as far as my knowledge EAD and AP do not need certified marriage certificate to ensemble with the packet since those came along together with I-485. I actually searched about these and could not find anywhere that you have to submit certified marriage certificate along with EAD and AP.

Thanks for your reply! I haven't read anywhere that asks for a certified marriage certificate for EAD or AP either. But I wonder if including photocopies of it for these two might help?

It's odd that OP was asked for 3 certified marriage certificates!

Yes, that actually is really strange to me as well. Sometimes you don't know what the adjudicator really wanted though. You think already sent all proper papers and they still send you RFE. . There are a lot horror stories about that. From I-693, I-684, to certified marriage certificate. Or some members here already sent but USCIS misplaced these papers and they had to send it again.

Yeah, I'm not sure why we got an RFE for 2 extra certified copy's, since everything in our AOS is in a single packet with different folders for each part of the process (ead/ap). As stated before, I actually sent the original marriage certificate, and took 2 photocopies to put in with the EAD / AP sections, thinking that was plenty of proof. Guess I was wrong, though. So we sent in the other 2, and so far they seem pleased with that. Still waiting for further updates.
