It took me about a day and a half each time. I got 3 of them on separate occasions at the Pakistani embassy in Bangkok, although the last one was only 15 days single entry.

MENA = Middle East/North Africa

Working visas, or tourist? I have a friend now who is waiting on his entry visa to work (don't know the number, sorry), and has been doing so since March. A fellow employee waited for almost 2 years before he could depart last year. Can't say why, but it sure seems an inordinate amount of time to me.

Thanks for the eggsplanation. :)

Working visa, meaning I was going there on business, not for actual employment. Kinda like the equivalent of a B1 in the U.S. The first two were 6 month multi-entry. The last 15 day single entry I got was a pain. I had to go to the embassy 2 or 3 times because the shot me down at first, although I had already had 2 previous visas. The company I was going to visit, contacted someone at the govt. in Islamabad and they called the embassy in Bangkok and told them to give me the visa. The first two visas were easy, not sure why they gave me so much trouble on the 3rd one. This was 2005/2006 time frame though.

Despite what you hear about the place, Islamabad is actually pretty nice despite the fact they finally succeeded in blowing up the Marriott I used to stay at there. I think it took them 3 tries.

If I go, it will most likely be to Quetta. I am getting sick and TIRED of all the hoops I must jump thru just to buy a handgun here in the US. It is rumored that they have bigger guns in Quetta...

Yeah I think Quetta is the place where they make all the weapons and have street markets selling them. I believe you can even get RPGs there. Never been. Only to Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.

The allegation is not against a single country so much as it is for one religion. Which seems a tad silly to me.

Let's see if Marvin had any undue hardships.

For the record I have seen work visas going into Pakistan take from 4 months to 2 years. And that's for folks with security clearances.

Muslims trying to get here have a extremely hard time. Every single one I've talked to coming over or bringing family members said the time frame was around 8 months to 2 years+, with 8 months being the fastest. I got lucky that mine only took four months. My son is another story. Been trying since March of 2013 and still no love.

So that would make the fastest time four months, right? Which was faster than mine. So perhaps USCIS is trying to impede catholics from coming over? (Or maybe my wife is a terrorist and I just don't know it yet).

I was told that my case was unique for some reason. Folks didn't believe she was here until I took her to work with me the following week. No one had made it through the system that fast as a muslim. But our son? Nothing but dead ends and issues.

Your wife is from Malaysia, not the Middle East Arab countries.

Beneficiaries from Indonesia do not have long AP either.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

I'm so sorry Marvin.

This is a tragedy what the embassies do to us.

Malaysia is a major Muslim country. You're either Indian, Chinese, or Malay.

I think women have less issues than with Muslim men.

Too true.
